I know this title is really weird... but in the case of my family... it's topsy turvy... my parents constantly needs support with the prayer life...as a result the prayers in our family are kinda dwindling... Any bible verses and suggestions would be really helpful and I'm indeed very grateful for all your Christian support :)

An atmosphere of praise leads to a desire to pray....

Prayer is not easy, it can sometimes feel like a chore/boring but the thing I have realized is that if you meditate on God's word or on worshipping God you feel a desire to pray or talk to God. Worship breaks down barriers to prayer...and it doesn't have to be long winded prayers or worship....it can be as simple as saying "I need you Jesus right now" or "help me Jesus" those are "twitter" prayers if you will but highly effective if they are meant from the heart. Jesus even upbraided the pharisees for their long winded "for show" prayers in the marketplaces and temple to show how holy they are.....he said they get their reward which was the approval of men....but Jesus instructed believers to pray in secret/no show /bravado and to not use vain words or a thesaurus to pray but to pray from the heart b/c He knows what we need even before we pray it or ask it.....

15min prayers are the best place to start.....it can add up over time.....I pray about 6-7 times a day with small 15 min prayers over the course of the day and find it very useful and refreshing to do it that way instead of long drag it out prayers like Indian churches are prone to do but have no effectiveness.....imo short sincere prayers are more effective than long winded time clock prayers.....

Thnx a lot sis! :) I somewhat tell it to my dad... but it's complicated when he's facing stress from his work :/ Making it less likely to pray:/ when it's supposed to be opposite right? When we're distressed, dont we usually come to our Saviour for help to fight the difficulties? Anyways...it's a good thing I've got you all for the great support through the Bible verses and assistance :)

the problem is that when we are in a worldly routine, its hard to bring God in. Only if you break the worldly routine, you can make it become a Godly one. my now i pray psalms every morning and leave he house early and take time with God to talk to him until people come.
My adivce is that you take these bible verses and put them near his coffee cup or something so thats one of the first things he sees in the morning and that you help him and pray for him.
Believe it or not the first way that I started to put God into a routine is getting up extra early (ike I do now) and make some healthy breakfast, read devotionals and listen to sermons first thing in the morning and then praying before I leave, even if I just had a half hr.
Just you gotta keep doin it to interrupt the worldy routine and you will find God coming closer and closer

Thanks a lot brother! Yes worship breaks that difficulty...but I thought it was supposed to be an intimate conversation so there shouldn't be any difficulty? Yes, simple words actually matter! I'm sorry for being harsh ...but in Catholicism and some other denominations? I think...there are formulatory prayers... and pretty much they're mostly meaningless ironically because not many say it with meaning ....my whole fam were catholic...so I suppose the transition considering the type of prayers perhaps could be hard :/ But the good thing is that they are Hopeful Bible verses and besides CC is a great community! And yes...the time schedule which you have brother actually fits into hectic lifestyle...!

Thats great sis! Yeah you're right about the worldly routine sadly :/ Yeah...keeping Bible verses near to coffee cup ...that's something I look forward to! :) But the problem again lies in he finds it all stressful to fit into half hour before he leaves to work :/

The good thing is we together listen to sermons during weekends... :)

If each family member takes turns "running" the family prayer time, it will relieve the burden from resting solely on the parents, teach the younger family members their prayers and ideas are important also, and will give your family a closeness, by closing off the world and bringing God into the house.
To me by allowing younger family members to offer family prayer time, devotional studies and whatnot, the parents are training the child in how to go, so he won't stray as he gets older. He feels valued and an important family member, giving him security and a great foundation for life.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Give the parents a break and organize a schedule to help know who is "in charge" when. Hang the schedule on the fridge (like a prized test score or school paper). Make it a fun time for each person, let them be totally in charge, and remember that prayer isn't always bowing your head, it could be in song like Psalms, or in a drama or poem even. Each person gets to let the other family members see their way of worship that touches their hearts. You will learn a lot about each other also. I never knew my big burly, "grease monkey" brother could draw, until he showed us. Who knows, maybe one of your siblings have a hidden talent.

Not knowing the specifics of your problem, one thing that comes to mind is this: Set a good example for your parents. And don't forget to honor them, as the Lord commanded.
