Just dropping in to say hello. I am still doing fine I have been super busy with school work in between trying to get my neck to stop going out of place and causing major pain and unhappy evenings for me. I am still waiting to get a new laptop probably in a few week here I hope because hooking it up to t.v. is a pain and I can barely see lol. Oh well I hope everyone is doing great. I am working hard learning my history and about drug abuse and art history soon to throw some Spanish in the mix fun fun. I was all set to try to bust my butt to graduate this May and found out my lack of math skills is going to hold me back...I have like a fifth grade math level according to the test I took. It could be because I was very sore and super tired I do not know. Either way I will still push on I am going to finish one way or another soon. God bless you all I will check back in a while and see what everyone is up too.

Freecycle.net is your friend. Google it, then google one in your neck-of-the-woods.

And then ask for a laptop. It will be an older model. It may be dirty, and without many doohickeys and thingamajigs, but it will be free, and someone has one stored away that they'll never use again, but don't want to throw it in the dump.

You really have to learn about Freecycle.net, because you keep spending your money, instead of saving it. (It will also help you fill your new place with stuff that will due, until you have money to buy your own stuff. Added benefit: sometimes the stuff is good enough, you never want to replace it. lol) It is your friend.

I stink at high school level math. I was required to take a math at the college level, but the good news is they have math courses for folks that stink at math. I learned such important mathematical concepts as there are 365.25 days in a year. (Explanation of why we get a leap year every four years. It fits. lol) I graduated. It's doable.

And, yeah, hubby got the slow-kids math class when he decided to go to college. He was a HVAC mechanic at the time. He can tell you exactly how much heater you need for any room, any house, any building, and yet couldn't do the algebra. He understands BTU's but couldn't do Algebra. (I know what BTU's mean. It doesn't mean I understand what a "British Thermal Unit" means when it comes to, "I got this much space, and I want to live at 65 degree heat on any given day in winter.")

It's not slowness. It's who needs that stuff anyway?

After thinking I stink at math for decades, I got a job where the boss had to teach me how to do bookkeeping. (Desperate times -- desperate measures. I would have taken a job wiping a dog's butt if it paid at that moment. lol) Ends up -- I don't stink at math. Turn those numbers into money, and it all makes sense!

You have a teenage daughter. Go to her to tutor you in math. If she gets a D or better, she'll do. You just need a refresher on junk like algebra and geometry. Not that you have to be a whiz at all subject matters.

This is so true. We have given away thousands of dollars worth of fairly good things on FreeCycle.

hubby has tutored math at a local college and privately...I had to go to work at 15 and
in my 40's decided to go back to school, never had a lick of algebra...hubby taught me what
I needed in about (3) months, and I walked away with a degree, plus a cap and gown...

looking back, I definitely would have dropped the c&g...so, as .... as I was or felt, miracles
really DO happen:)...

Have you tried a neck brace? You can get them at drugstores now. Even walmart has them. Some are as low as $10. Just a suggestion.
