Lol I don't think it's your professional status that will make a difference to rather your wife takes your advice or not.

Like I said, my husband is a great encouraged and coach but I prefer him not training me and telling me what to do.

Walking is good. Its when I pray and think, when I talk a walk in the woods with my dog.

My husband tells me he would rather focus on me being healthy then losing weight. He thought I was underweight in college. I guess that was part of why, he always tried to feed me.

I do wonder what you believe is a healthy weight is and what kind of fitness advice you gave your wife.
I wouldn't use weight as a marker. That's just a recognized term. I told her it's a good idea to consider the nutritional value of items and first figure out how many calories she consumes. Then gradually reduce them instead of just start eating salad. This causes a too significant drop in calories for most people and signals the body to conserve energy in the form of fat. It also causes the body to increase estrogen in an effort to reduce muscle mass because muscle burns calories. Even if the scale says you are losing and your pants fit better for awhile the loss in muscle mass and drop in calories slows down the metabolism preventing long term success. She is type two diabetic. I told her by eliminating carbs for a bit causes your body to go into ketosis and uses fat for energy. This along with eliminating body fat, increases insulin sensitivity curing type two diabetes. My strategies use the body's endocrine system, and improved digestive techniques to heal the body and improve nutrient absorption. Most people are killing themselves with sugar.

That is sound advice. You mentioned her asking you to prepare healthy meals. Maybe she would be open to a diet plan?

You can add nuts and dried fruit to salads to add flavor and calories if needed.

As for sugar a gradual reduction might be better then going cold turkey or replace cane sugar with honey or stevia or fruit.

However all you really can do is pray, give her suggestions and let her decide.

One thing that motivated me to be healthier is the idea,of being here for my,husband and kids.

It's a sentiment my husband shares. We take care of our bodies to live longer for one another out of love.

The best way to avoid sugary snacks and desserts is not to buy it and put it in the house.

Maybe have one day a month or week when you can have a desert. (a slice of cake or scoop of icecream, not the whole cake or tub of icecream)

I occasionally use the free app "my fitness pal" to track calories and water intake.

It might be useful. They have a scanning feature for barcodes now.
