Talking How do you all decrease your stress levels?

Please help a sister out and don't just say "I read the bible...", give me specific things you do or meditate on that decrease your stress levels

I'll start. Last night I told God every. single. worry. that I have right now, it took me about an hour (eye roll) and I fell asleep right after. I remember the emotional burden being lifted from my shoulders as I neared the end of the list.

Well, when I am stressed out, I dont talk to God. I mean, I probely should, but It doesnt help. I talk to myself though.

I read a book sometimes. Or watch a movie, or play a game. It gets your mind off stressfull things. I used to be stressed out all the time. It was terrible. But now i fixed it. But on those few times when I am stressed out, I do the things listed. Me being an introvert, talking to myself (not outloud) actually makes me feel better at times. Get my thoughts organized. (Or does that make me sound like a madman lol)

I know. I do not expect you to understand (no offense)
I "keep my self company" I suppose you could say. I dont exactly have many people I want to talk to about my stress issues. I talk to God sometimes, but I get the same amount of comfort as that as thinking.

Believe it or not, saying "I read the Bible" is a perfectly real and valid answer.

Reading ANY portion of scripture has the spiritual effect of REFOCUSING your MIND,
away from YOURSELF and back onto GOD.

So, "reading the Bible" is a very real answer.

God tells us we are transformed by the renewing of our mind.

Rom 12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,"

If reading the Bible has no SUBSTANTIAL effect on you,
    then either you aren't saved,
or you've never read the Bible enough to see the effects.

    Hug,

we could never take 'offense' to anything you could say little one,..
we, most of us, keep ourselves company at times, above everyone else...
and, most of us are very 'discreet' in our communication with others...

but, we, hubby and I, take ALL of our 'comfort', in our Holy Saviour, and only take
His instructions and Commandments into our hearts in order to survive in this un-holy-world...

I have anxiety attacks occasionally, and what I normally do while i'm having one is quote Psalm 23. I say the whole chapter over and over until my breathing slows and I can breathe and speak normal. I have gone through 3 bad relationships that have caused me to have occasional anxiety attacks without warning (whenever overwhelming things happen) in my life. I have a list of encouraging, hopeful, and uplifting scriptures written down in a book whenever I need them. Whether I am praying at the time or not. Maybe you can do some research for yourself and write down some scriptures to help you during your most stressful times. Hope this helps!!
    Kingdom Blessings!!

    You assume too much.

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry - James1:19.

Your suggestion was not helpful. You didn't understand my question, AND there was no love in your post.

Let me re-write the first part of my post and see if you'll understand it more clearly:

"Please help a sister out and don't just say "I read the bible..." Please give me specific things you have thought about and done (Looking for bible verses or bible studies) that have helped you in times of great stress. Don't just give me a verse, TELL me about how that verse affected you and how it "...renewed your mind." Rom 12:2. What led you from point A...to point B etc.

I love the word, and study it daily. I only wanted a personal and specific account of biblical stress relief that you personally have to tell. I probably should have elaborated in a bit more detail my question.

Reduce stress levels by confessing to God your sin of worry and lack of trust in His divine providence and asking for forgiveness.

    When I begin praising God.

There's power in praise - it dispels depression, discouragement, doubt which are front runners for causing stress.

I will specifically go online and choose the songs that will help me put my trust back in the Lord. It always works!

After I learned, years ago, that I create my own stress levels...... not external sources, I simply choose not to feed them once I notice some tightness.

I'm sorry if I offended you in any way. I wasn't trying to come across like I assumed anything. I was just giving you an idea on what I normally do, besides just listening to worship music. I also shared with you how I handle my stress moments........but my favorite is just listening to worship music. I'm sorry if I came across anything but caring about you or your feelings. No pun intended.

God made us to be whole human beings. The Bible has to be the foundation of our lives. Our relationship with Christ always has to be #1. But, that doesn't mean we are to neglect our bodies, our minds or anything else.

When I started going to seminary, I was feeling better with my RA, and I took up bicycling. I made up Christian playlists for my then IPod, later IPhone, and rode my bike long and hard, praising God for over an hour! I physically relieved stress by pushing my body. I mentally and spiritually relieved stress by thinking about God, praying and talking with him, and praising him.

Yes, I read the Bible daily, and study it in Greek. I have so many life verses, I don't have space to relate them all. Which is my point. I can tell you till I am blue in the face about how God used Romans 5:3-5, to help me realize that we all suffer in this life, and God is building character, or the Psalms made me realize I had been lied to about how Christians are all supposed to be perfect, and have a perfect life.

But the problem is, that is something God gave me! Now, if I write out about how God gave these verses to me, and how I have grown, I am telling you about MY walk with God. Which is not to say God won't use my words, or anyone's words to help someone else. But in the end, we need to have that walk with Christ, and let him do the majority of the teaching us, through the Holy Spirit.

I usually try to walk around the source of my stress or solve the problem that's stressing me out. But its not always possible to remove yourself from stressful situations, people, jobs, etc.. That's when I say the heck with it, have a couple beers, and plow forward . I often compare my situation to the stress of being beaten half to death and crucified, and that seems to remove any self-pity and complaining about how tough things are for myself. All things are relative, what stresses us out today might seem like a picnic tomorrow.

I meditate/ think deeply on God and focus on what he has done in my life already and who he is... Instead of asking for peace, i say thank you as i know his spirit dwells within me.. its a growing process as i am always constantly renewing my mind to who he is and who i am now as a new creation in Christ, and i am becoming more and more secure and at peace with things and problems that i face in life...

Romans 6:11 says we should consider ourselves dead to sin but alive in God in Christ...I see it this way, to disagree with God is a type of sin.. the world and its problems will always try to convince a person to disagree with what God says and his promises.. being alive to what the world says/sin makes a person unbalanced and insecure because it will always bombard a persons carnal mind... Colossians 3:2 says to set our minds on things above and not earthly things.

John 16:33 says Jesus overcame the world, and i don't have to stare at the ground anymore, but instead
i can choose to look up believing the truth. What i do is a lifestyle though.. and it has changed my life. I don't stress much, if i do,i turn my focus back to God, because im not trying to be alive to something dead.
