Any times you begin to feel this way dig into Gods Word and focus on what God has to say about you until your perfectionism is turned toward God and ocd turned to learning, living , and breathing scripture.

You have to try and focus your ocd toward God and he will help you defeat it.

When did your ocd start? And what was going on in your life when it started?

Is it a relationship or friendship that God desires with us?

It may seem all your life but deep down in your memory at some point in childhood it began. It takes great concentration and sometimes talking about your childhood dealing with fear and ocd.

And you wanting and desiring a relationship with God is far from the unpardonable sin.

Which is blasphemy of the Spirit.
We have no control over what comes into the mind, but we do have control on how long we linger on the thought.

Counter those thoughts with truth and pull up alongside some believers here and pull strength from some of us.

God can and will turn that deal stalking you on a dime!!!

God will never leave you. Your thoughts are only thoughts. But you can help limit bad thoughts by filling your life with good. Just like i have had to deal with lustful thoughts, anger thoughts, rebellious thoughts, thoughts to be selfish. But i try and not linger on these thoughts knowing that lingering on them can possibly make them a action.

To help with minimize these thoughts i try to stay away from anything to bring my mind to lust, anger, rebellion, selfishness. I no longer watch anything with NR on the movie or tv show and if its rated M i check online what the show has in it.

I help with anger by getting enough sleep, eating on time etc.

I help with rebellion by trying to hang around people of good influence until i had enough self discipline to be around sinners and not give in to their lifestyle.

And to help with selfishness i read scripture every day to help me remember how to love my wife and kids.

Scripture will help you minimize bad thoughts by filling your mind with good.

Proverbs 4:23New International Version (NIV)

23 Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.

Matthew 6:22-24New International Version (NIV)

22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,[a] your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

In the same way your thoughts are not going to defile you but what comes from the thoughts could.

Mark 7:15-23New International Version (NIV)

15 Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.” [16] [a]

17 After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. 18 “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19 For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)

20 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

Jesus was perfect, because none of us are capable of it. If your obsessive and compulsive about Christ, its an attribute, not a disorder.. And never think or feel that God doesn't want you, look what Christ did for you, no one in the world would suffer and die like that for your sake. Having a loving relationship with your spiritual Father is the easiest thing you can do in life, none of us are good enough, but we are perfected in Christ, so don't feel unworthy.

Do you know that once you receive the Holy Spirit in your life that is your seal. Your guarantee that you will go to heaven. I read that in Ephesians. Once you realize that, it really can help you with condemnation, it also says in the bible that condemnation does not come from God but from the enemy.

Ephesians 3:14-15 states, “For this reason I bow my knees to the Fatherof our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earthis named.”

These two verses show that God’s overall household or family is both inheaven and on earth. So God is responsible for everything that exists.

But thoughwe all have physical life when we enter this world, God plans to offer ALL human beings the chance toexperience an additional spiritual beginning that can result in eternal life inGod’s Kingdom and this is ONLY through repentance, baptism and the receivingof God’s Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38).

God Almighty then becomes our Father in a very personal way. He becomes ourFather, and we become His children, when we are spiritually converted. Romans8:14 tells us, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons ofGod.”

You have a relationship with God. In this life he has coupled it with your OCD so that you will learn to trust in Him in its midst. His strength is made perfect in weakness. You're right where He wants you.

I have a feeling that these feelings of inadequacy are tied to the same brain malfunction that drives your OCD, and your perfectionism. Did you know that the more you give into these urges and rituals, the deeper they go in your brain? You need to stop allowing yourself to follow the perfectionism and tell those sorts of thoughts to go away.

Do a study of how much God loves you as laid out in the Bible. "God is love." 1 John 4:8,16; John 3:16-17; etc. Go to Biblegateway.com and search out some key words, and look up the verses, till you find something that gives you assurance that you are saved and then memorize it.

"For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39

"But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)," Eph. 2:4-5

"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is." 1 John 3:1-2

Memorize verses like this, as God gives you assurance that he will never leave or forsake you.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrifiedbecause of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deut. 31:6

"
“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you." Hebrews 13:5b

When the thoughts come that you are not good enough, not perfect enough, be ready with the Word of God to rebuke them. God is NOT going to leave you. This is a false scenerio you have created in your mind.

For one thing, none of us will ever be perfect enough for Jesus. But the good news is that Jesus knew that, and chose to die in our place for the punishment we should have received for our sins, failures and lack of being perfect. Jesus was the only perfect person who ever lived. Do you really think in this life, in this fallen world, you will ever be as perfect as Jesus? Of course not! If you were, then Jesus would not have had to come to earth, and be beaten and die a painful death on a cross. Although the Holy Spirit can and will change and transform us increasingly into the image of Christ. We will not be perfect till we see Christ face to face!

"For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known." 1 Cor. 13:12

One last thing I want you to is read about the idea of "eternal security." It means you cannot lose your salvation. Now, some people and denominations do believe you can lose your salvation if you are not perfect enough. But in reality, most of those people will say that if people are repenting and confessing their sin, they won't lose their salvation. Only wilful and intentional sin and walking away from God loses one's salvation. I used to believe that, because that was what I was taught in the churches I attended. But after reading the Bible through about 25 times, I started really looking at what the Bible says, and I believe the promises of God that he will never take away my salvation, and I am his child. I have had such peace since then, because I know it is not by my works, or how good I am, but how good and perfect Jesus is, that saves me!
