Hi tin,
Those arent a few activities, and many will get ideas from your list young and old. i am not a movie watcher also, and in fact sometimes think we be missing some real good ones for lack of time for those=). But it is alright, i say, for the Lord wants to show us how to use our time on more important, needful or helpful things. I know ive wasted enough time in my youth and only want to redeem time for the Lord's work now that i am old-).
My sentiments exactly! I always say it's sometimes not worth wading through the worthless films to find the gems!

I'll name a few of my activities, maybe some people can get ideas from them :)

Writing letters of encouragement; I have over a dozen pen pals, and I also write letters of encouragement to the elderly. I've been thinking of writing to prisoners or adopting a soldier or orphan as well. I use this as a way of witnessing of the truth. I don't bible-bash, but I have a Christian worldview and am not afraid to talk about Christ. On the way, I've found some amazing friends and great prayer partners.

Writing for the enjoyment and edification of others; I love writing stories, poems, and plays. I don't know if I'll ever get them published or not, but for right now I give them out to friends/family to read. I love to write a Christian story, or just some good clean fun. I would put any blogging, writing of pamphlets, and writing of newsletters under this category as well.

Writing for my own enjoyment and edification; I write a lot. I would put sermon notes, notes on the Bible/theological books, journaling, poems/stories that I do not show to others, and keeping a prayer journal all in this category.

Reading; I read a lot as well. Besides regularly reading the Bible through in a year, I read several theological books through in a year and a lot of non-theological books as well. Not all the authors I read are Christians. (gasp!). I do have a very strict view on what is appropriate and edifying, however. Most non-Christian magazines, (and a lot of books as well) don't make the cut.

Being in nature; This is my favorite! I love to garden, spend time with animals training them and loving them, hike, swim, play yard games with family and friends, watch the sunrises and sunsets, mow lawn, pick flowers, stargaze, the list is never ending! God is very good to give us such a beautiful world to live in, and He wouldn't have done it if we weren't supposed to enjoy it.

Movies; Ok, there's a lot of debate over this one in Christian circles. For me personally, I have not been convicted of any wrong in watching a few movies. I am very careful to limit my time spent in front of a movie (I personally limit to 2-3 a month), and of course, I severely limit the content. I think I've watched maybe 3 non-Christian movies that were made after 2000. Most of the movies I watch are older, or they're made by Christians; and even in those spheres you have to be careful.

Church activity; For me, at this point this includes cleaning the church, cooking the potluck meals, singing from the pews, welcoming guests (my sister and I are the only teenage members...we're pretty much on when it comes to trying to make the peer-dependent teenage visitors feel welcome!) and childcare. There are many things that need being done for a church to run properly, and the Bible makes it very clear that we need to all work together on this.

Music; Music and the arts, when used properly, are a great gift from God. I am not at all talented in any other of the arts, but I do have a small talent in music. I often play or sing at nursing homes, and go with a group that sings Christmas carols for shut-ins. I practice just for the sake of practicing, and pick up other instruments to try to learn just because I want to make music to the Lord in as many ways as possible. I also listen to a lot of Classical music. Not really into what gets billed as Christian music, and a lot of the modern stuff isn't good.

Serving the community; There are a lot of things to be done! I've recently been doing a lot of yard work and housework for the elderly. Look for needs, fulfill them.

Those are a few things, a bit to chew on anyway both for enjoyment and relaxation and service.
Yeah, that all sounds nice. But seems that your not working or are a part time student or something. As you have so many things listed. Nice list though. But I think it might get a bit shorter later in life. As I nowhere near enough time to do all those.

Pen-pals, hmm. Seems like a decent idea depending on my legal options to prisoners or other. Though online or by letter? Sending your address is a bit dangerous. How do you start something like that?

Music, I don't have the correct guitar. I modified one recently to make it lighter & smaller, but it's still too big & heavy. The longer it takes, the more I feel I'm not allowed/supposed to. And I'm not buying a custom guitar, I'd rather give the money away and not bother.

Poetry, for me, is too much of a time waster unless it's biblical poetry. Though I wouldn't want to be blasphemous by accident, spreading it around.

I'm trying to do a mobile Bible study twice a year, though slipping a bit. May take 6 to 9 months.

I would make a YouTube channel but find that the messages may have the same issue as poetry. Unless it's just the Bible.

Probably just look into more evangelist stuff?

I'm...actually working part-time and a part time student and a part-time caretaker/part-time farm hand for my parents :D. So yeah, awfully busy but I find that there is still many hours in a day. I honestly think that's key, prioritize! fill your day. I don't mean run yourself ragged, but don't sit and do nothing (or something of lesser importance) when there is something more important to be done.

I snail mail to pen-pals, since besides this site I avoid the computer for most things. I found an online website to get them from which is unfortunately currently unavailable. But anyway, the idea was you could correspond email for a while until you were comfortable giving your address. I've never had a problem with it. I don't know how it works in your country, but in the USA you can take out a post office box, so that the address you give out isn't yours, but the post office's.

Dude, Why do you think God gave us so many things if we weren't supposed to enjoy them? to some extent, loosening up a bit isn't a bad thing either! For some, on Judgement Day God's reproof will be, "You took time for the world, but you did not take time for Me." I think it will be an equally bitter reproof to hear, "Your walk with Me was small because you did not take time to use the talents I gave you to broaden and enjoy your life." God wants you to use your talents! Find them and develop them. Evangelism is a great idea if that is where God is calling you.

I get your point about starting conversations etc. But I have next to nothing to say and I often go blank before I've even started. I think to "edify" others who have been Christian alot longer than me, because telling people their doing it wrong from a comparative newbie, seems, well, unqualified, even if I was. And what am I going to teach anyone?

They know the Bible more than me. I'm socially inept unless I'm talking about stuff from a set point / presentation etc.

Yes I can ask questions and sometimes do, but often I may be asking alot from the individual.

Honestly, I should have done a ray mears when I was 16 or so. Maybe I'd be less socially useless by now. Maybe. Trying to get into tract giving, but it's hard work getting past nerves on your own.
We don't have many "ghetto's" in south Wales. We don't have freedom to visit non-family pensioners for security, we don't have many orphanage's and security again. State secured. We don't have many abortion centres either. Food banks exist, but it's food they need, not volunteers.

Stop making excuses, and stop asking for suggestions you won't use. Various folks have provided lists of activities that are in line with the Word of God. But it's your job to get creative and glorify God in whatever ways are available to you. You don't have to do what anyone has suggested to the letter, but I'm sure you can find something to do in the spirit of something that has been suggested. As it is now, once you evangelize people, the message to them from you will be "now that you're a Christian, you can do nothing"...unless you do something.

Live abundantly! Ask God to show you your talents and then use them. Look for a need somewhere and fill it. Think about turning your interests into a ministry (or use them to evangelize!). You can't control how much time you have left, but time spent worshiping is never wasted. :)

I asked for suggestions, for me. Not for you. Though if they help you, enjoy. And I didn't ask for suggestions I won't use. I think people have heard I work days. But for more info, I'm stuck in a small town, living at home, little quiet or space to myself. Not very rich, have a car and live in the UK. Male. 30's & a bit unhealthy. So, as I'm working, I'm home & had food by about 5 or 5:30pm. Sunday's church. I walk, or try to, everyday for my legs and stuff. About 10 to 35 mins roughly. So say 6 or 6:30pm I'm not busy. 1 Thursday a month is cafe church. I'm very interested in doing things, just not selfish things. If you think everything is permissable, that's not biblical.

At the moment I'm finding it difficult because I find nearly all Christians, luke-warm. Nice and friendly but seem too quiet and hidden. I'm also trying to not get too into re-writing everything about education that is poorly created. Because it seems egotistical or something negative? To me, people often seem to know little, when they're lecturers or math/GCSE book writers etc. And being a failed student probably makes me a bit hypercritical.

Should I spend all my time writing mathematics books because I can't find the one I want? Or CNC Booklets, evangelist tracts (because they miss out the holy spirit etc). Am I just going to end up "away from God" through selfish distraction? Self help or even helping others, non-biblically, is probably the wrong thing.

If you build your own life and end up comfortable, ,, you may have "found your life", so will likely lose it.

Those who find their lives will lose them, those who give their lives to Christ will live.

Though I still find it difficult with a bit of a stigma for talking to people unless it's a presentation etc. So I'm flagging behind a bit.
The reason I asked for suggestions is because, I find it so difficult to find biblical activities outside of working hours.

Hi, I was just hoping people could put their solo Christian Activity ideas down here. As I can't think of any allowed activities. TV is just not good overall, Christian console games Don't really exist, don't drink, go walking, read Bible and YouTube sermons, church Sundays. Nothing else???

Thanks.
You could go walking and hand out gospel tracts to people.
Chick Tracts are the best and kids love 'em.

You wont get the best ideas from me, but the ppl here have given some that may help. It may be the culture in ur country in general, for Christians in different cultures act slightly different, of course. But generally, i see Christians as warmer than others, even those who try to be friendly and warm when that is not their natural disposition or personality. Since u admit not being very rich as most of us here probably are too, and not that healthy, working on ur health in inexpensive ways is not bad at all. If there is opportunity to interact with others while taking a walk or going to the gym, there is nothing unbiblical in that. You wont think me the friendly type of person at all, but i do sing and whistle and play instruments, not to excess. Maybe u think those who sing are probably the friendlier types who dont mind being noticed and want to sing along with others, but whether ur alone or with a group, there is nothing wrong with singing. Depending on ur songs, it could even lift u up or others, if any hear what u sing.

On writing a better math book or tract, u dont need all the time for that if u can do it. Then work on it as time permits, if u think doing that will be of service to others, and glorify God. Smile, give more not just materially, for God loves a cheerful giver.
