Hey guys, so I'm just wondering will God still judge me for being dishonest with family... even though I've repented and asked for forgiveness? Will he let me into the kingdom of heaven when the time comes or do I need to be openly honest to my family about the things that I've lied about first? Thank you.

Welcome Emz012, if confessing the truth to your family helps you clear your conscience God will honor that. However there are many circumstances people have lied to others and weren't able to tell the truth. They repented, knowledged to God what they did was wrong and he forgives them. You said you repented for lying, God forgives you. However no longer be dishonest to your family.

If a person believes Jesus and trusts in the Atonement Jesus secured for their salvation then yes they will be forgiven and have eternity with God..

If your dishonesty with your family is still hurting them or affecting them negatively in some way then yes you should go to them and tell them the truth to stop any lingering harm..

It is hard for me to give advice on the specific issue when i do not know how major or minor the issue was about. So you being the person who knows all the finer details are the one who should make the decision on what your next action,, if any,, should be..

May God's Holy Spirit guide you with the wisdom to act according to His will..

***I believe God has forgiven you***I would ask the Lord about sharing what you have lied about and follow His direction***

EMz012 First what does repent mean? If we understand the meaning of this word,we have a much better understanding of being forgiven. Repent means to turn away from such,because to be blunt what your really repenting of is lieing to them. So we know we truly repent of this action by not doing it anymore. ( Rom 4:8) covers us!! Jesus love covers us from a multitude of sins!( 1 Peter 4:8) and so if we love them we will not lie to them any longer, thereby understanding what repentance is. Blessing.

Hmm, well the bible says this

*23* Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

*24* Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

So try to fix these relationships first before going to God.

This is a hard question to answer. Forgiveness is forgiveness. Sometimes, though, it's helpful to admit to wrongdoing.

Exactly. Repentance means (1) making amends, (2) making restitution where required, and (3) making a commitment to not repeat the sins which have gone before. If bringing up specific details will not rectify anything, then there is no point in brining up details of dishonesty. A simple and sincere apology to each one, stating that you have been dishonest in the past but will be totally honest in the future should be enough. On the other hand, if you stole $1,000 from you sister, then it is high time that you returned that $1,000 with interest (actually a bonus). Read up on Zacchaeus.

Repent means to turn another direction, so stop lying going forth.. Whether you feel the need or necessity to confess your deceptiveness to other family members is up to you. If someone was hurt or suffered because of your lies, then your conscience should guide you to make amends. Otherwise, I'd let it go.. jmo

As others have said: Jesus does forgive us.
if you are still doing whatever it is you have been doing, then that is not repentance.
Ask both them and God for forgiveness :)
