Sobriety is preferable to being stoned all the time, and Scripture certainly upholds that view, though it does not forbid drinking in moderation, and is also prescribed for those in deep sorrow, but not as a way of life. Marijuana being prescribed by a doctor is a relatively new phenomena. Because it is so new it may be being over prescribed. Where I live you do not even need a prescription to get it, and the police do not arrest people for smoking publicly, especially if it is at some kind of event. Times sure have changed!

PTSD is linked to trama ,with questions unanswered.Wine CAUSES depression
and is a depressant.Hash/weed is a bandaid not an antidote. It solved no ones problem in the vietnam war.Jesus said you shall know the TRUTH and the truth will make you free.If there is physical trama then in his NAME we heal the sick.As a christian I have experence miracle healings ,but I was very serious and desperate with God when that angel came. Our heavenly Father Does hear our cry. Shalom in

And trauma is relative. What may be traumatic to me may be something totally within the realm of your ability to cope with. Jesus said He would not partake of the vine until we are reunited. That sticks out in my mind for some reason. That said I like a nice Merlot.

Wine can be used medicinally, as can marijuana. So it would depend on the reason for usage.

The Bible does not forbid drinking in moderation, and I use my mother's definition of moderation: 2 glasses of wine. I am not against the use of medical marijuana but I have strong doubts about its value over an extended period of time for PTSD.

It's better, and this is just my opinion, to abstain. You can get a doctor's prescription for anything but it may not be best to take it if it's a stimulant. I am forced to take a pain killer for a medical condition and I hate every pill I take. I have friends and relatives who are hooked on drugs and alcohol and it's a real curse. Many doors are best left shut. Who knows where they might lead. Certainly not to improvement. I used to drink a glass of wine but eventually stopped, feeling it was better to abstain. It's too easy then to allow something worse to come in. JMHO

If you feel compelled to ask, you can usually be pretty sure you have a problem with it that you are really just trying to justify with Scripture.

How does anyone's opinion give you answers to your urgent questions? You can do the research yourself from the Bible and pray God gives you the answers. I'd much rather trust his opinion that most opinions on this site.

When something becomes "urgent," it's time for me to get serious about researching answers.

(BTW, if you knew the effects of weed, you would know how much to trust that doctor.)

Everything in moderation... wine can be healthy and so can marijuana if handled correctly.
PTSD in my opinion is relative. A doctor tried to tell me I have ptsd and thats just way out there. Traumas can be dealt with and you dont necessarily need weed to do so. For me weed should be used appropriately against pain, spasms etc. not so much to deal with mental sickness that everyone who had a dramatic event gets diagnosed with.
We arent allowed to be stoned/drunk etc. because we should always be able to control ourselves and be able to make conscious decisions and be sober and under control.
    thats just my views tho
    God bless you

    some bible verses

GENESIS 1:29 God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food.

PROVERBS 31:4 It is not for kings, Lemuel; it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes to say, ‘Where is strong drink?’
PROVERBS 31:5 lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the justice due to anyone who is afflicted.
PROVERBS 31:6 Give strong drink to him who is ready to perish; and wine to the bitter in soul:
PROVERBS 31:7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

    and the key

1 CORINTHIANS 6:12 “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are expedient. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be brought

    under the power

    of anything.

if you belong to Jesus, the Holy Spirit will show you your limitations in anything,
whether, pharmikia, or God's given remedies...always use the Holy Spirit's advice, guidance,
which is always, 'moderation' with information...

Some people will say drinking is ok while smoking marijuana is not. For others it is the other way around. Some say both is ok and others neither is ok. What does your conscience say? Whatever is not of faith is sin(see Romans 14:23)

Alcohol is less destructive than weed. Nicotine is less destructive than weed. Drinking is less destructive than smoking (combustive). The most important part of our body is the mind, without the mind we don't have a body, or we do not have control over our body. Weed has long term effects on the mind, whether you become schizophrenic or you become a docile hippy it is still not really 'you', and also stays affecting the mind for about a month after smoking one joint. Alcohol may affect the mind temporarily, but is less destructive than nicotine.

Regardless of the positives (even heroin has positives) the negatives need to be taken seriously.

I believe cannabis is being legalised in America for 2 reasons.

    a) Subdues the population, after all stoners tend to cause less harm to others, and are more easily controlled (even though they believe they have jedi powers and know every conspiracy in reality).
    b) It has always been an untapped money income in a country which has a major debt crisis on it's hand. Free love promiscuity has already existed once in time, surely this says a lot. Maybe this time it won't be around the time of a Vietnam war but something similar, North Korea.

I try always to turn to God for solutions. I've never heard him say go buy yourself some beer, some cigarettes, smoke a joint, inject some heroin. However, I know what type of person is more likely to persuade others to be that way, and it's a stoner. Cannabis is a gateway drug, and yes there are those who may use it medically, however it is the non-psychoactive cannabinoids which have more healthy benefit to them, and other cannabinoids in hemp are used in many things we use today. But I do wonder how many go to get some 'medical marijuana' because they have a headache, or can't sleep, or are suffering anxiety, and really, they just want to be stoned.

Cannabis makes people more devious and opportunist from my observation of it in people, going on to it, and coming off it.

Anything psychoactive changes the brain chemistry, changes you into someone you are not. This includes MANY prescription drugs. Cannabis users often see themselves as the chilled out ones, well try taking their cannabis off them and you will find how aggressive it has made them in the background of being under the influence.

Nicotine also affects the mind because it affects the receptors in the brain which deal with stress, so rather than think you need to take a deep breathe to relax or take a walk, or meditate and pray, it tends to be need a cigarette because the brain has been damaged.

The newest research on nicotine is it actually destroys a protein in the brain which regulates the sleep clock, which is why smokers tend to have more trouble sleeping than non-smokers.

Hope that inspires someone that no drug, no vice, no crutch is ever a complete cure, but is simply a cure to a symptom of an underlying problem. After all doctors and scientists tend to look at symptoms as the factor of a problem. If someone has symptoms of depression and there is a drug that gets rid of the symptom, then they see it as the solution, while it is not really the cure. And did you know that clinical data (where it goes wrong) for prescription drugs is most kept under lock and key by the pharmaceutical companies? They don't want you to see the bad, or how many people have died as a result of taking them. They only open a path in a horrendous circumstance, to healing the way you cope with something, which is the real cure.

I'm not against the temporary use of any drug to get past unavoidable issues, I am only against the prolonged use of any drug for psychological reasons. God can fix anything you know, if it is simply broken rather than missing. In America I know the use of prescription drugs is something which is very much normalised. Of course this is now becoming psychoactive drugs too. But it won't be anything like heroin which stops you from working, makes you more likely to turn to crime, and hence you are not a valuable asset/money tree. Well someone is very happy with the fact that these things are normalised, the same as gender fluidity, but I don't think it is God.

Wine is fine in moderation. Jesus drank wine. However, the Bible does make it clear that intoxication should be avoided and becoming a drunk is wrong (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

Marijuana isn't dealt with specifically, but it can be harmful. It has been linked to schizophrenia. Smoking of any type can lead to cancer. As long as it's only used for medical use and under a prescription, I'd say tentatively it's okay. But it should be closely monitored by your doctor and if a different drug, one that's been legal for a lot longer with more studies done works just as well, I'd suggest using that instead. The legalization is so new and people can still face legal consequences under federal law. Studies done by modern scientists are difficult to come by or evaluate because until recently it was incredibly hard for scientists to conduct legal studies on the uses of marijuana. You could be temporarily escaping the effects of PTSD only to later face other mental issues and severe health problems.
