well I have a EMG today i am dreading every minute if it.. I am hoping it may show why my muscles are always in spasm. They swear it is not because of my neck and back but i don't know. If it is not then they really need to figure out what is going on because it is surely not helping my neck and back to possibly heal some. I told the neurologist that if the EMG does not show much I want them to just do a muscle biopsy. I am seriously sick and tired of deal with the day in and day out spasms. they make things so much worse. I pray that these guys get some kind of answers soon. Lord let them find the answers please thank you.

Why does it hurt? I have had it done, and it is just a little discomfort.... unless you let the static sound of the machine get you worked-up. (Admittedly, the needle tests aren't a lot of fun.)

I sure hope they figure it out with the EMG, Jennifer. I read about a man who had toe cramps every night and the docs couldn't figure it out so one doc tried prescribing him an anti-seizure medication and the cramping never came back.

Yes, very much an owwie! But consider it like root canal. It's going to hurt, but it's temporary. And, if all works out, it finally tells them what they need to know to help you. Start planning on what to do to celebrate it's over. If I didn't have lactose intolerance, I'd plan ice cream as my reward. Figure out a reward for going through it, and make sure it's worth dwelling on that instead of the test. Sounds silly, but the best way to deal with pain is to avert your mind to something else.

I've had one of these tests. It didn't show anything for what was causing my muscles spasms. It did rule out ALS, so that was good. Now I'm waiting for a new insurance policy so I can go for MRI's until they find the cause.

I'm sorry for your pain and spasms. I live it with daily. It doesn't make life fun.
