Turn a negative into a postive, you don't have to have the horror costume and themes. be crafty and make non horror costumes bible themes.

I also will do the same. You must not worship YHWH your Father in their way, for every abomination to YHWH, which He hates, they have done to their gods . They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods. Whatsoever I command you, be careful to observe and do it, you shall not add to it, nor take away from it.”[/FONT]

I'm not going to burn someone in a fire as a sacrifice,

though it helps to be wise as a serpent and know how to turn the blade around at the right moment.

So I guess evil spirits just hang out and chill for the other 364 days a year. Like there's a magical portal that opens one day a year

That's just the way of being a Christian. It's a lonely life. This is what it means that the clean creatures split the hoof - come out from amongst them and be separate. We never celebrated nor taught our children to take notice of this day. It's easy to see the evil around this day increases every year. Vampires, zombies, ghouls. It's all a demons holiday.

You should seek Jesus to fill you with His Holy Spirit if you are a born again believer. There is much required of followers of Jesus. We sacrifice nothing while He laid down His life. We must please Him. Much of my wife's family are unsaved. They will always think you strange. What Jesus thinks of us is more important. Seek God.

.......my daughter loves halloween. She's excited to dress up. My family I live with are not christians. My daughter's biological father's family aren't either. They love halloween. I know I can stop celebrating, but to get the kids away from it will be difficult with the whole rest of the family celebrating and me being the only Christian.
We don't "celebrate" Halloween, however we allow
the kids participate, and I don't see any harm in it.
We don't go crazy with it.
The kids carve pumpkins and dress up for trick-or-treat,
and we hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters,
but I don't spend much money on any of it.
The kids either make their own costumes or we'll buy them second hand.
The haunted houses are off limits for my kids
because people take that wickedness way too far.

If you're convicted about it to the point you don't want anything to do with it,
maybe take your kids somewhere that de-emphasizes it and still lets them have fun.
Bowling? Go carts? Movies? Swimming? Get creative.

Best thing to do is not live with your family.
That's going to cause problems in a lot of areas, not just Halloween.

Equinoxes, solstices, eclipses, full moons, planetary alignments, ley lines, etc, have long been part of the whole pagan scene. The pyramids and other monolithic structures such as Stonehenge reflect this fascination with the manifestation of gravitational and other universal forces on the human experience. It is believed that the veil separating the physical world from the spiritual is more easily pierced during these times/at these places.

Halloween is still 'evil' for evil doers. A minister friend of mine was praying around a city for the people. Two self-proclaimed witches asked him what he was doing. "Praying", he replied. "So are we." they replied.

My daughter brought me to Jesus. She liked halloween too. but...I know too much to tell. It's a hellish holiday...just saying.

Be best to not celebrate but as for the past...ask Paul..."forgetting what is behind...and pressing on" in Jesus name. You have a testimonty to the light.

One friend on here gives out light sticks...and testifies of the 'true light" Jesus Christ. it does a double "save"...with prayer and/or plants a seed. I"m doing that this year with my minister friend and his wife with tracts for kids.

"you meant it for evil. God used it for good." So there...in the name of Jesus....go forth and conquer

I would personally avoid celebrating it as it is one of the dark nights that wiccans/satanist use because its supposed to be a day where the veil between the dead/underworld and our natural world is the most thin.....

It is based on the feast of samhain(false death god) and is used to celebrate and enact the gruesome sacrifices of animals and humans in order to please the god and get favor/power from him.....

there is a similar festival in india called diwali....where the hindu gods are celebrated...and sweet candies/treats are handed out....this is a celebration that I do not take part in either....

lest i be charged for lack of sources:

What Does The Bible Say?

"The Jack-O-Lantern, symbol of a damned soul, was named for a man named Jack who could not enter Heaven or Hell and as a result had to wander in darkness with his lantern until Judgment Day. Finally, Halloween was "Christianized" by the Roman Catholic Church in the A.D. 800's and incorporated into "Allhallowmas", the evening before being "All Halloween". The celebration of Halloween is a survival of ancient pagan beliefs!"

Samhain (Samain) - The Celtic roots of Halloween

https://www.thoughtco.com/history-of-halloween-or-samhain-1992402

whether you choose to celebrate it or not, halloween is a pagan holiday and the early church (RCC) tried to adopt/mingle the pagan roots/activities in to the church (RCC) to increase the number of "believers".....

it is my belief that halloween should not be in the church for we are to shun that which is evil and cling to the good.....a holiday (holy-day) about evil spirits/and the macabre is not something a Christian should praise/celebrate...for in effect if we honor this day we are honoring the evil spirits that are symbolized by the rituals such as pumpkin carving (used by druids to ward off evil spirits)....no christian should honor an evil spirit period....

I realize this post will be controversial and not liked but I don't care....if it provokes thought or conviction so be it....

and for those who are going to ask.....no I do not celebrate other holidays with pagan roots (easter, christmas, etc) except for thanksgiving...

from above articles...::

  1. [*=left]It is obvious that the elements, symbols and traditions of the Halloween observance with its emphasis on goblins and demons, witches and skeletons, ghosts and apparitions constitute a dabbling with the very things which Scripture forbids, and places Christians in the realm of demonic activity. Anton Lavey, "Black Pope" of the First Church of Satan, in his book "Satan's Bible" states Halloween is one of the three highest days of satanism and is not taken lightly by them.

Your flippancy about this matter indicates that you don't take the evil spirit world too seriously, nor do you understand that pagan practices and celebrations are not for Christians. Indeed they are forbidden.

Since Halloween is dedicated to appeasing evil spirits, yes that does open a portal on a specific day for evil spirits to become more active that at other times. So give this quotation some serious thought. It is from a website for the people who practice witchcraft seriously (therefore no link).

"Many Neo-Pagans, including Druids and Wiccans, trace their annual seasonal days of celebration back to Celtic times in Europe. They celebrate the most important of their four major Sabbats, called Samhain , on or near OCT-31 each year."

So, do you wish to continue celebrating a Witches Sabbath?

EHP. 5:8-9-10-11-12-15-16-17-18-19-20-21.

For you were sometimes darkness, but now are you Light in The Lord: walk as children of Light:

(For the fruit of The Spirit is in all Goodness and Righteousness and Truth;)
Proving what is acceptable unto The Lord.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Wherefore be you not unwise, but understanding what The Will of The Lord is.

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with The Spirit;

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing
and making melody in your heart to The Lord;

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and The Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

One thing for sure. If you want to find out you should feel guilty about any little thing, this is the forum to come to. People are happy to pile on guilt.

I'm feeling a massive amount of guilt as a believer about halloween. It's/used to be my favorite holiday. I used to make costumes of horror and worked in one of the top haunted houses, Cayo Industrial in Utica NY.(look it up) I loved to scare people. I looked back on photos of myself and was ashamed. I deleted them. I want that part of me to die. I don't want that to be me anymore.

When I was growing up as a Jehovah's Witness I was so jealous of the "worldly" kids and how they got to have fun and dress up and get candy. I wanted to do that so bad! So when I left that cult, I started celebrating it. It was what I looked forward to all year because I'm a very crafty person and I love special effects makeup and costumes. I felt like it was the best time of year to show what I could do. To be unrecognizable. To go from this small girl no one paid any mind to, to making grown men scream and run away in the haunted house.

I have been feeling this guilt build up recently as halloween gets closer. I have been reading my bible daily, which I have never done before. Been doing that for a few weeks now. And I'm seeing myself in this new light. I'm really seeing how far I was from Jesus! I really was a Lukewarm Christian. I can't believe how blind I was to that part of myself. But now, my daughter loves halloween. She's excited to dress up. My family I live with are not christians. My daughter's biological father's family aren't either. They love halloween. I know I can stop celebrating, but to get the kids away from it will be difficult with the whole rest of the family celebrating and me being the only Christian.
Has any of this helped you? I missed part of your question earlier. You can't be responsible for what other family members do. You, are, however the authority in your children's lives. Allowing them now to partake of halloween is a thing you may want to reconsider. Re-read Job if that helps. Not everyone realizes, but Job was not just a good guy beat down. He was a good guy who allowed his children to live in the World with perhaps sin...he himself wasn't sure so he prayed alms for his children. Then the calamity began. God is indeed proud of Job for staying faithful and used this story to teach us all. My children are grown and both still go to "Harvest parties" and allow the kids to dress up. I hate that, but beyond prayers I can do nothing. They aren't ready to hear my learned wisdom. A response I got was, Yes we're born again and yes it's not that great but we live in the world and ..." I don' t recall the rest. Strength is necessary to get through this day for all of us...I work in a bakery and have to make a decision to 'decorate' the donuts or pass on that one. It's subtle but it's everywhere. Dearest Father, I lift up the daughter we are speaking to and ask that you give her strength and guidance this halloween season to do what is right for herself as well as for these children. She loves you, you know that and wants so much to please you. Together we remind her the past is past and the future is our new testing ground. Show her in some way how loved she is and give her peace. In Jesus' precious name I pray. Amen -student

Halloween these days is an excuse for all kinds of evil. I personally do not celebrate Halloween. But, there's no reason why you CAN'T that I know of! :) Like others have said, cut the horror and do cute costumes. Me? Costumes are the only thing I like about Halloween, and I decided long ago that I didn't need Halloween to dress up in costume, since my costumes are more like period-dresses and such. Sure, it looks a little strange walking down the street, but people just assume you're part of some reenactment and they don't bother you too much. :p
Really? :eek: That's awesome!! :D

To DJD...

When I was a kid, halloween was all about fun. You got to dress up as your favorite superhero or pretend to look like a scary vampire or something, but it was all in the name of fun.... like a giant neighborhood costume party...

These days halloween has taken on a bit of a darker meaning. It's now associated with witchcraft, the undead, political hate (I wonder how many will be wearing trump costumes depicting him in various ways), and people are now focusing on making costumes that are truly scary. The innocent fun has faded away..

I think you can still enjoy halloween with your daughter, but the desire to make truly life-like gory costumes is not from God.

If what you owned was a liking for Halloween? It didn't weigh anything anyway.

I tend to feel that on Halloween we mock the devil, and laugh at death! :)

We also make children happy by playing dress-up and giving out candy, and we know how Jesus thinks of children.

If you can make it Christian themed them great, however I don't see much harm in it, besides the sugar overload.

A couple years ago my church held a Halloween trick-or-treat event in our church parking lot. We called it Park-or-Treat. Volunteers each decorated a parking stall in a bible themed way. We had a Noah's Ark display, a display of Moses parting the Red Sea, an Adam and Eve display (with *some* clothes! lol), and a bunch of others. About twenty bible themed displays in all. All the displays gave out candy or little toys. Nearly all the kids from our church came by. And quite a few kids from nearby neighborhoods. It was a big hit! :)
