:) So, since this thread has gone totally off its purpose, what did the "rep" do -- if you don't mind telling me?
I am so computer-illiterate!!

I can understand about having low neck lines but I don't understand the problem with the dress if it's a bit more fitted if it makes me feel confident and self-assured?

I also think you're missing the whole point of the movements. It's about women being harassed and abused it's not about "looking easy" or "dressing provocatively״ It's actually the opposite. Women should not have to be abused because a man has the ability to, based on his authority in the workplace

Let me turn this the other way.

I was always the 'nice guy' who could never get a girl or woman's attention even if I was on fire outside a boarding house. Oh they'd hunt me down for a shoulder to cry on when the 'jerk-de-jour' treated them foul enough. But that only lasted until the next jerk came around. Then they'd be gone and treat me like a complete ghost, at least until that jerk wronged them enough. Then back to good old Rick for the shoulder cry. But go out with me? NEVER even consider it. So I spent my days alone except for those days I spent consoling a woman who otherwise wouldn't give me the time of day.

I consider that abusive.

That sucks. I've always wondered why women are so attracted to jerks. Guess nice guys are just too boring or something.

Don't get me started about authority in the workplace. Someone (man or woman) that will abuse an underling because they think they will not report it just to keep their job, is worse than the devil. They usually pick on someone they know will really hurt if they become jobless.

On dress, I raised two daughters and my advice is as follows: Try not to look like a hooker; many young ladies seem to have not been told that. Dress to feel good enough about yourself and pay attention to where you will be going and what the people will expect. Going to church will require modesty; going to the beach, no so. Even beach/pool goers carry cover-ups while travelling; this is good. Lastly, always avoid the intention of dressing provocatively to draw attention. That attention will be unwanted.

Both m
y girls were rough and tumble and like to fight with me and their brothers. At some point, getting them ready for adulthood I would sit them down for a talk. I grew up in the ghetto and know about fighting for survival. It is a lot different than scuffling and play fighting. When someone attacks to overpower you, whether to rob or rape they will go for the stun effect. How you react to that will determine your survival.

I told my girls
to use their brains, it is our best weapon.I said don't feel bad if you are surprised and overpowered. Just pretend that you will remain compliant, and look for an opening. This often will cause them to let down their guard a bit. They will almost never let you into their groin area (overrated anyway). I told them when they punch or kick, aim past their target so they don't pull their punch. You only need a fraction of a second to break and run. The shin-bone has very little protecting it. A good hard kick-through to the shin when they aren't expecting it will often give you your chance. Try to use the edge of your shoe. Never hang around to overpower them unless you are in a remote area. If you must overpower, find a tool (rock/stick). If you have to use a stick go for straight in jabs to the face. Arming them with this, I felt I bettered their chances of survival.

My senior year of high school (I was 17-18) I missed a lot because I was sick. I needed surgery to remove my gallbladder. Anyways, I had to talk to my economics teacher about missing tests. He was sitting on his desk chair and I was standing up. It was just us two because it was before school started. He patted my hip and said "don't you worry, we will figure something out...maybe you can stay after school to take the test."

I ended up going before school. School would start at 9 AM...so being there at 8 was perfect. There were many teachers and students there already in the hall area.

I don't know if he meant it in a wrong way. I certainly felt uncomfortable and told my mom about it. I mean he touched my hip. This guy was like 50 years old.

But he never did anything else so I guess he was just trying to comfort me. Nowadays if he did that, he would probably get in trouble. This happened ten years ago.

yes, these kind of situations will always be in our 'fallen-world', no matter where you are
or where you are going to - if you are truly a 'child of God', openly walking the walk and
talking the talk, if satan sends one or more of his minions to harm you,
Jesus will send His angels to intervene and give you a way to derail the enemies attempts
to hurt or destroy you - we have had several un-believable experiences in this area...

but always remember to not put yourselves in certain very obvious situations that would make
it so easy for them to catch you by surprise...

My 2 cents... because I have some free time today to be annoying.

1. Nobody thinks any women should be sexually abused - nobody thinks this except for a few soulless creeps who aren't listening anyway.

2. Therefore, it is wholly irrelevant for everyone to keep repeating their public outrage about sexual abuse... as if yelling louder will somehow make it stop.

A. Decent men don't need to hear it.
B. Soulless creeps aren't listening.

The incessant public outrage is just a waste of breath, and accomplishes nothing but virtue signaling.

I'm really sorry, but I think this is all it boils down to.
Decent men don't need to be continually berated for something they'd never do, and the creepy sociopaths aren't listening.

* I understand women are upset; I'm upset too... but yelling more doesn't do anything.

3. I think it's really terrible advice to suggest women "hurt" their attackers, and learn self defense as any kind of serious solution.

A. I think taking self defense is great... it's a great "last line of defense" for a woman.

B. However, as a "first line of defense" I think women should be taught to be HYPER AWARE, and CAUTIOUS, rather than relying on self defense training.

They should learn to be careful, and prudent, and develop their common sense.

C. If you think, even for a second, that the average woman can defend herself from the average man, even after learning some self defense... you've watched way too much TV.

Even if you think a woman with a black belt can defend herself from the average man, you've watched too much TV.
There's a reason fighters all fight in categories by weight and gender... it's because weight and gender matter.

A little tiny girl, even with a black belt, is NOT going to defend herself against a big strong man.

So it's good for women to learn some self defense (for emergencies), but they shouldn't rely on it.
I'm not sure you know much about self defense, or fighting. My father was a professional boxer. I was a amateur boxer as a child undefeated in 56 fights. I learned aikido, the Kwon do, and jiu-jitsu, and until 10 years ago helped train MMA fighters. During that time, I saw many girls and women who were more than a match for the average big strong man. My cousin Debbie, was such a good boxer in high school that the coach had her fighting with boys. I taught my daughter's to defend themselves, and they did-when necessary.

Yes, you are correct. God has been very patient in teaching me that I no longer have to war in the flesh, but rather in the spirit. As always, I am thankful for, and appreciate your counsel.
