Sadly, I have never ever eveeer known the true meaning of being a family. Since the way I grew up, I never had a family. So tell me what family is to you, what you went through as a family, er if you never had uch of a family like me then tell me! I'd love to pray with you :)

Oh this makes me sad. You seem like such a sweet person, Joey. I remember some of your posts. It breaks my heart to learn that you never had a family. Well you truly deserve one, and not just any family...one that really deserves a wonderfully sweet kid like you! I'm sure that if you keep praying for it God will make it happen.

To me my family (parents, siblings, relatives) is everything. I didnt always feel that way. In fact when I was your age I would have been more than happy to be free of my parents lol. Now that I am more settled in life I realize that having a good family is really one of the greatest blessing one can ever have. Friends come and go, people that you know come and go, sometimes life takes you to a different state, a different town, sometimes you find yourself alone...but if you know that you have a family that cares about you out there it makes things seem a little brighter.

If you are lucky enough to have freinds that feel just like brothers or sisters then that too is like having a family. I pray that God blesses you with a loving family of either friends or relatives...it doesnt really matter who they are ...as long as you have someone who is willing to always be there for you no matter what, then they are your family. :)

I can't believe no one else has anything to say about this. I guess people would rather argue about illegal immigration than answer a question that troubles someone's heart.

Hey there, I’m kinda new here so ive never read any of your posts. But from the sound of the other people posting in this thread, you seem to be great person.

Ive been fortunate enough to have always had a loving family, i have 5 other siblings and my older sister just gave birth to my first nephew! And another one of my sisters is due to bring a second baby boy into this world. My closest friends in the world are my brother and sisters. We hang out, we talk and share stories. We spend time with each other because we enjoy it. My parents raised us to love people as much as we could. We fight and bicker, and we were always the loudest family in the neighborhood, haha. But in the end we love each other, and care for each other. When my sister Ashley gave birth, a few days later she said "you know its funny; i know this is my baby. But ever since he was born it really feels like its our baby!" The other people i consider family are my closest friends, i have a best friend who ive been friends with for 15 years. He knows as much about me as any one of my siblings, if not more. He is like family to me, because he is always there to help bring me normality in life when something is wrong.

I think you have created a nice little family here at CC. There are people who genuinely seem to like you and care about you. You believe in God, and Christians are a big family. Im sorry to hear you never had people around you as a family. But it seems to me you have one now!

Growing up my family was the poster family for "alcoholism." My father was the alcoholic, my mother was the codependent, I was the superstar and my brother was the scapegoat. Look up the terms, they are very common "roles" that people adopt in a dysfunctional home.

Now, though, I am married, and they say that you marry someone like your father... Well I didn't see it at the time... but "they" were very right. The good news is that I now know how to put Jesus into the midst of this household, and he is interrupting those old patterns I (and my husband) grew up with. My family is building a foundation on God--something my family of origin never did. My daughter is almost 1 1/2 years old, and I want her experience of family growing up to be very different from mine. So far she's gotten a little bit of both--unstable, dysfunctional parents trying to do right and live for God. I only hope that one day when she is commenting on this post she will be able to say that she had a great family who loved God first and each other second. With Jesus on our side my husband and I are going to make that the reality.

So do not lose heart about your lack of family. Learn from it and make it better for your children. Anyway, the Bible tells us that we are adopted as sons and daughters into God's family. How awesome is that! So in that way I am your family, and if you ever need anything you just let me know :)

Be blessed.

What is family?

Well, my experience has been...

Get together at different holidays to bicker and fight, then laugh, hug, and say good byes, because if it wasn't for them, no one would of changed your diapers.

IS that how it SHOULD be in the IDEAL world, no.

Every family is a dysfunctional family.

The family that God gifted me with is the smallest unit of my faith and ministry. I am most free with them. It is a place of safety.

SO,then are you sayin that Your family in christ is dysfunctional? who hurt you, brother to make you bitter enogh to believe that? I'll be prayin for ya . family is not just who donated sperm and egg-it's the people you love and get along with,or not get along with, and the people who love and care for you whatever you say or do. Like us here at cc! please dont think that all families are :dysfunctional". God gave his only son in atonement for our sins! Is that love? I think so!
Anyway, remember that as you contemplate this message-you are amongst the biggest family on earth right here!

Well its having alot of other opinions constantly thrown at you, fighting over who knows best, having them always speaking over you,
sisters borrowing all your stuff, brothers teasing you to the point where you want to tthrottle them, but if another attacks you all your brothers and sisters fighting for you and standing up for you, sometimes taking sides and fighting each other, always knowing there is someone around for company, and if anyone outside the family tries to harm you, all coming to defend you, it is just having them knowing you may be hurting, and them hurting with you, always there, wether you want them there or not, knowing always that simply because you are brothers and sisters, you are always loved, cared about , and protected.
In many way like being here at cc, where we are all brothers and sisters in Jesus!
Hugs and God bless, pickles

Family can be a really good thing. On the other hand, family can fight like cats and dogs. My brother, sister, and I are getting up in age and get along pretty well. We live in different cities so I don’t get to see much of them.

Family?

Family is everything as previous people has already stated. Family can be anyone though in my opinion. What I mean is we have close friends to my family that are not blood related, but we consider them family. My brother died at 17 years old, when I was about 12. It was a tough time. God got us through it and in the midst of it all, my family pulled closer than we ever had been before. I am lucky a lot of my cousins are all around my age. We take trips during the summer and winters when everyone is out of school just all of the cousins. Our ages range from 17 to 25, those are some awesome trips. We all are open about the Lord and I love every minute of it. I have friends outside of my family, but if I did not have friends and just those cousins I would be just fine with it. I have been saved for about 10 years, but just recently I have started to grow in my spiritual walk with God. I had always been seeking hold his hand, but now I seek his face. It is truly amazing. I am actually having a "God moment" typing this. I know your young and if you seek God's face you will find everything you will every need. God will bless you with a family if you stay with him.

As my pastor says pray to God and talk about everything with Jesus. Tell Jesus to come and just sit with you for a while, because he will!

haha I hope so..

Awh, man that makes me so happy to hear(or in this case read) about the happiness and loving in families. It gives me hope that others like you had a family to look forward to seeing, or friends that are close to you like a family. I don't have any friends that aren't on the internet lol well.. there's one! But it makes me happy to know that a cool guy like you had a family and friend your childhood and teenhood! Hope we get to talk sometime soon, God bless :)

Man.. I'm sorry.. But you know, just by the sound of you trying to make your child's life a whole lot better of living than yours was, woulda made me believe that you didnt even go through that stuff! But I know for sure that God had your family in the palm of His hands, and with faith so strong as yours it'll all pull together. Thank you for the encouragement!! God bless :)

I'm so sorry that you don't have a family. My heart goes out to you and I'll be praying for you, but unfortunately I don't really have much to tell you about a good family. I hope the words of others bless you. :)
