Default Is using contraceptives a sin against God?

I live in a Catholic majority poor and corrupt nation and our local bishops say that using contraceptives is a sin and tantamount to abortion.

What will you say about this according to the belief you learned from your Bible based group? Is it okay to know what is the name of your Bible based group too?

There are lots of Bible based groups in the world and I don't know if majority of them agrees with our local bishops.

People have been using contraceptives for thousands of years and there is not a single Biblical injunction against their use. At least none that I can find.

That said, the Catholic ethic does make a certain amount of sense when we look at things globally.

How about reading the Bible to find out what it says?

There are two basic kinds of contraceptives: those which prevent fertilization by physical barrier (such as condoms), and those which prevent further development of a zygote or fertilized egg (such as monthly hormonal-adjustment pills and "morning-after" pills). I'll leave it to the reader to draw their own conclusions on the moral implications of each.

I'm on birth control myself and I will admit I am unsure of the implications of it. I started taking the actual pill, three years ago and this year I started getting the Depo Provera injection and I'm not liking the side effects, altho after the second round it seemed to have quieted down. My gyno wanted me to try the IUD which I am firmly against. I also think the reasons why you are taking bc is important and should dictate whether or not it's a sin. I'm on bc for medical and hormonal purposes because I have severe migraines and reproductive issues both of which I have been hospitalized for and the last time was right before Christmas last year.
I choose to honor God by inspiring people. How do you honor him?........
