hi all, i am in a bit of a frustrating spot at the moment. i have always had a heart for going out and helping those in need, and i really want to go on a short term missions trip. the problem is..... i was recently diagnosed diabetic, and i am dependent on insulin. insulin needs to be refrigerated when not in use, and i go through about a pen a week, so a three month mission trip, i would need to take about 12 insulin pens.seeing as most places missionary's go don't have refrigeration, i was wondering if anyone has gone on a mission trip and had the same problem or if someone could point me to some resources that could help me make a mission trip possible.

That is a tough one. I guess it depends on where you are going on missions. Is it to a small village with limited resources? I'll be praying that all works out for you, and hoping someone might better help you in your question than I was.lol

I honestly don't know where I will be led to go, I keep thinking guatamala or Italy. I was on one missions website and they said people with any health issues, essentially shouldn't apply to go on one of their trips. :( I could always go to a colder climate, but I live in Alaska, and need a refrigerator to store insulin. There is always antartica, but then my insulin would freeze ( not a good thing) and penguins would steal it X0 lol

Hi Amberlie,

When you are finally called to a specific destination, God will provide the means for you to have your insulin. He is pretty amazing that way.

God bless you.

Missions doesn't always mean leaving the country, you could probably go help at a church of a like-minded faith for a short time.

The penguins will probably sell it on the black market to the polar bears.
