I was challenged today to give someone honor. Give honor to someone who deserves it and give honor to someone who does not deserve it and then watch how that seed planted from God will grow and help them to be honorable. I want to honor my mother but do not know how she is not exactly the best of people and lives a life of drugs, drinking, and all around not good things. because of her life style I moved far away from her to protect my family. going to visit her is out of the question she is not were God wants her to be for me to do that, but i am hoping i can plan a seed. any suggestions on how to do this would be helpful.

As for honoring someone who deserves it I want to thank Schoomarm. Thank you for having an open ear, supportive words, and a helping hand.

How about writing her a letter or sending her a card in the mail. I think that honoring your mom is a great idea by the way.

Hi Maria,

I am encouraged by your post that you are hoping to plant a seed in your mom's life, despite her lifestyle. Rom 5:8 says, 'While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.'

How about starting with specific and regular prayer for her? Start interceding for her salvation and ask God to open her heart to his Word. Pray also for God's wisdom on how to move from here. :)

Very likely, God may ask you to write to her (email or letter). Ask God for wisdom on what and how to write. It is important that you are filled with God's love so that you will write as though God is writing to her but through you. One way is to share how God's has blessed your life, your family, your work and invite her to open her heart to Jesus. Be prepared that she may not be responsive to your word initially.

From here, I can't really be specific. God may prompt you to visit her. If He has, then go in faith and with courage and wisdom. Be strong and do not be discouraged when things may not go your way initially. Remember that if you are planning to bring her to God, the devil will definitely try to stand in your way, except that 'no weapon that formed against you shall prosper. (Isa 54:17)
