we are people, we fail. Thanks be for Jesus who covers our failings. We must be ourselves, not a phoney imitation of what we think a Christian should be. Once we are filled with the Holy spirit the Holy spirit convicts us in areas where we fail and sometimes he uses our more legalistic Christian brothers and sisters to point us to God will in his word. Sometimes they use methods that may cut us to the quick but we also need to realize that theres something there in the response. When we feel that deep deep offense we need to look at the others Christian perspective and see... do we require growth there... are we relying solely on our interpretation of the word while ignoring the spiritual connection with the Lord... or vice versa, are we connecting with the Lord in the spirit only and not paying proper attenion to Gods will through his word. everyone needs balance. we are all important parts of the body of Christ, both those who are abrasive and offensive and those who are mild and Loving... The Lord puts each person in our path for a reason, its just a case of do we want to receive instruction in the Lord and pray for discernment or do we want to be right fighters and dig our heels in to fight for the right to be right. Anyway I appreciate those who i've reacted the strongest to as much as those who are like minded, because those who caused strong reaction, truly, were areas where a need for growth was exposed. Anyway MCAP I welcomed you in another thread & just pray for you not to be discouraged by anything on here. I love the jason upton worship song... they will know we are christian by our love. The Holy spirit gives us the capacity to love even those who hurt us the most! Praise the Lord!

It's sad but remember it says in the bible you will know them by there works... also if a person can not respect themselves they can not respect anyone else :(. Just remember you can't control how someone else acts or responds but you can control how to react and how you act towards them

With Regards

Its for the very reason that none of us is perfect that we should ALWAYS think before we speak, what ppl fail to realize is , once you say something, you cant take it back. While I cant say i have never got my blood pressure up some on these forums I think its safe to say just about all of us new and old, have felt belittled or downright attacked at some time or other, what i have learned to do.......is shake the dust off my feet, and ignore it. Im accountable for me, and what comes outta my mouth, and so is everyone else. Welcome to the family Mcap.....I hope somehow and someway you may be blessed and be a blessings to others.
I agree! Sometimes I think, oh goodness, do I want to get into this discussion? lol. Truthfully, even if you think someone is wrong, there's a way to do it in a loving manner, but that goes by the wayside sometimes. Fortunately, for the frustration in some posts, there's a lot of really amazing, interesting, loving people here. :)

I think that people sometimes forget that its important to show "kindness" even with a strict word. It makes me sad to see Christians driving crazy and being rude, because people know we are Christian and they point at us and laugh at Jesus. I think we sometimes forget Colossiams 3;12.

12Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

He restoreth my soul : He leads me in the path of righteousness for HIS name' sake. Psalms 23:3

This statement speaks volumes, when we as christians act ungodly in any way for any reason we bring shame to HIS name. He tries to get us to 'do right' for HIS name sake, it has absolutely nothing to do with us, its all about Him and when we act out we ultimately shame Him.

I love seeing the cross on people. It reminds me of Jesus. I hope they have him in their hearts. I have a big cross somewhere. I need to find it.

I have not been a member of this site very long, but I have noticed thru my own postings and others that certain people on this site act just like the non-believers I meet on the street. They are very rude and act like your post is ridiculous.

I am a former atheist and have only been a Christian for a few months. It was because of people I have met on this site that I was an atheist so long.Christians need to remember WHO and WHAT they represent, you never know the reason why a person is posting on here.I know I am far from perfect but when I read a post the first thing I think about is the person behind the post, and the best way to answer them without hurting feelings. One of the commandments say to "love thy neighbor",I don't think that only pertains to the people living next to you. God bless
I'm sorry for your experience. Discussions, debates, and general disagreements can certainly get a little heated at times. Some end well, and of course, some end badly. When I read your post, I wondered just how often I've thought about these posts during the course of a normal workday. The answer was, not very often, unless I've separated myself for prayer during lunch or a break.

I have viewed many conversations, some of which were not pleasant, some have even caused me to consider abandoning the site altogether, but I can't think of a single post that affected my life in the way that you claim some posts have affected you. Sorry I'm a little intrigued. I suppose if I had ever been an atheist, and I read posts or experienced interactions within this website which contained such hurtful content, that it caused me to delay my decision to serve Christ, that is definately something I would never forget, which brings me to my question.

Knowing that you wouldn't possibly forget such hurtful content or rhetoric, What happened, or what was said on this site, that was so hurtful that it convinced you to stay an atheist for longer than necessary and then to follow up with this thread ?

yes I agree. once you turn your life over to Jesus you should be set a part from the world. christians should not even partake in sinful acts, or do the things that they use to do be for you gave your life to Jesus. we have to live in this world but be set apart from the world.
