I have been reading several books written by prominent pastors, and they are all basically saying that America is a nation that believes in God but does not trust Him to do what He says He will do.They say Christians have a higher divorce rate than non-Christians,they demand leaders with morals but do not live moral lives. The "American Church" is filled with pastors so afraid of losing their luxuries that they say whatever people want to hear.
In 1962 prayer was removed from our schools,1963 the Bible was banned.Of all industrialized nations America has since been ranked #1 in the following categories:
highest divorce rate
highest violent crime rate
highest murder rate
highest illegitimate birth rate

The pastors blame the Church for not setting an example, for not acting as Christians should act. They use a lighthouse as a symbol for the church and say our light is going out. They say there is not much time to turn things around and that if we don't there will be no return. All opinions will be graciously accepted.
GOD BLESS

A lot of things have happened since 1962. Define "decline"? If you're black, you might think things have improved significantly since 1962. Most of the founders of our country were slave holders. Do you think our Lord would have approved of that? Have you ever had a firehose turned on you? Have you ever been attacked by a police dog? That happened A LOT in 1962. "Highest blah blah rate". I say highest rate of complacency among Christians since 1860! What happened THAT year?? Anybody know?

MCap, thanks for putting the message up. The worlds people are not honoring God and the world is falling apart all around us. If we turn our face agaisnt God --God will turn his face agaisnt us. It was good to see all the people who commented on your message who clearing live in some wonderland of denieal. Murder, drugs, abortion, people starving to death, bombs, destruction everywhere, rape, filthy water, ruined lands, people loosing their homes, homeless, men on men, women on women, the evil goes on and on. God is crying his heart out for the people to turn back to him.

If one looks at the goverment of America, yes it is turning its back on God. But what I see happening among the people, especially the young is a solid division. I am seeing less and less of the middle ground. Either they accept Jesus and live their belief compleatly or they reject or embrace a false faith. All the attention is given to sin and crime but the growth of faith in our nation is ignored. In fact many I know have to tread quietly with their faith at work epecially in goverment jobs as they are set up for failier. What is happening is hidden behind smiles and questions of loyalty and it is growing and very deceptive. I dont know how or where this will go. But fear is its goal. My hope is that the growing of faith in our children will stand strong. I am amazed at the streangth of faith they carry. It may be different in other parts of the country but from where I am I see alot of faith and hope. God bless, pickles

Do you think that all the preaching doom and gloom is becoming self-fulfilling prophecy?

I dont know as Our Lord God is in charge of that. But I do believe we sould look to and lift up all that is good in Our Lord Jesus. Jesus said keep your eyes on me. Many of the young people I know are frustrated by the promotion of failier and decline that is portrayed. Often they ask the question why so little attention is given to those that choose to to good and follow Jesus. They feel they are misrepresented. I have always believed you water the plant you want to grow. That does not mean you exclude teaching right from wrong. But if all attention is given to wrong, then that is what will be shown and given. God bless, pickles

I'm not entirely sure what you meant, Mahogany...

As for what pickles said, about young people being frustrated by all the talk of failure and decline...

I'm not really sure that's true. I don't mean to be difficult, but I think that more than anything, the young people in this country don't even really care. About the fall this nation is going to take, that is. Probably because they don't really believe that it's going to happen. Most people my age, and younger, don't really give a hoot about what is going on in the world beyond what they see with their own eyes every day. Meaning, friends, work, school, cars, fashion, cell phones...that all takes precedence over what's going on in the White House, or in Iraq, or even in the next town over.

I dont know as Our Lord God is in charge of that. But I do believe we sould look to and lift up all that is good in Our Lord Jesus. Jesus said keep your eyes on me. People who choose to do good and follow Jesus in this country are actually very misrepresented. We are portrayed in movies and in the media as religious fanatics (which you don't have to be to believe in God), or childish fools, or self-righteous jerks, or Bible thumpers. More and more in this country, Christians are being made out to be a bunch of loonies. It makes non-believers uncomfortable to think that we might just be normal people.

And all of that is going to get worse, as the U.S. falls farther into its decline. The government and media are going to eventually stop portraying us as silly but harmless, and start making Christians out to be dangerous in some way.

Yet again, all part of God's plan.

Right now, we still have a bit of religious freedom. In the near future, American Christians are going to be persecuted on a large scale...for the first time. It will be just another struggle Christians will face when everything else is falling to pieces.

But once again, God is in control. And once again, we need to watch and listen and prepare ourselves.

ok i mean, is this more a matter of perception than reality? And the more you say things are getting worse you are making that prediction come true? Sort of like the saying, you become what you behold. Now I know America is a bunch of crazies, one big open air assylum and all hey hey :) but I know american Christians who think America is on the up and things are getting better and better.

I don't think that it's just how I'm seeing things, no :) Well, I mean, I AM seeing a lot of bad things, but it's not just me, and I'm not just making things up. Usually, I'm so annoyingly optimistic that people can't stand it, so for me to say all I've said...well. That really says something :p

I'm actually pretty excited to be seeing things going this way...not because I want to see people suffer or anything, but because it means that we're getting really close to seeing Jesus. It's sad that so much bad stuff is going to happen first, but how amazing is it to know that at the end of it all, God will send our Savior to us, keeping His promise?

I know I probably just sound like another crazy End of the World doom sayer. But, I'm not making this up. I can't ignore what's going on right in front of me.

Like all of the radio commercials I hear, businesses trying to 'soothe' customers and make them feel like there really isn't anything wrong with the economy. The more promises banks and loan companies make that right now is actually a great time to take out a loan, the more I realize they are just desperate to keep afloat as long as possible.

I'm not saying that all of this is going to come crashing down around us necessarily soon. Obama and his cronies will probably manage to find a few ways to boost the economy for a couple of years. It's probably going to be kind of a roller coaster ride here in the U.S. for a while. But eventually, the bottom is going to fall out, and eventually, this country is going to need a lot of help...and we'll probably switch to the euro. That's a major sign to watch for, because once the U.S. joins another country's market, it won't be too long after that that the entire world pools together for a world economy.

Honestly, it could be another 10, 20 years before things go as bad as I (and others) believe they will. I don't claim to know the time frame for any of it. I don't, however, think it's going to happen after my life time.

But, as Christians, none of this is anything we should fear. We may not be able to rejoice in the suffering, but we should take comfort in knowing that we will be spared from the worst of it.

:)

Mahogony, I agree with you that things are getting worse, not just here but world wide. But among the christians I see ,as I said before a separation. Not much gray or luke warm. Either you love and follow Jesus or you dont. I hope what I see happening is a trend that will spread . Also Mahogony, I respect you alot but the constant jabs at Americans is wearing thin. Much of what is said about your country is often unfair and I know is based in a stereotype that does not represent the majority of the people in your country. A act in kind would be nice. God bless, pickles

I guess we have different senses of humour, I'll refrain from any more 'jabs' at America ;).
PS. the latest 'dead pan' joke on American TV was that our prime minister is a mass murderer for authorising the killing of our wild camels. ;)

You're what's called a Jeramiad. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremiad It's an American tradition that dates back to the 17th century. I agree that the number of babies born outside of marriage is very upsetting. But I think you'll find that a lot of these problems have their roots in poverty. Couples divorce over financial stress. Here in Canada people never divorce over not being able to pay their medical bills or subprime mortgage, because we don't have those things. Not that we don't get into bad debt, of course, there's a TV show here called "Till Debt Do Us Part" where a financial expert helps couples who are drowning in debt, usually from reckless spending and the over use of credit cards. But, we don't have mass foreclosures because the regulation is so much tighter. I suggest you look at the root causes of violence and divorce and find out what other countries in the western world are doing right. I know that gangs is a big part of the violence. Thanks be to God that Obama is in the White House. He wants to bring in universal health care so couples who can't pay their bills won't have to split so the healthy one can avoid financial ruin, and (according to his platform, I don't know what his plans are now that he's in power) he wants to crack down on predatory lending. I think we in Canada have too much predatory lending too and the most vulnerable get into big trouble, and as Christians we should be concerned about this. So pray that those two things come to pass and let your representatives in Washington know that.

As bad as things are do you really think things were better in the days of lynching and segrigation.

When I can't go to a City Council meeting(which are normally started with prayer)without hearing protests from people who are sick of multiple references to Christ I have to think we are not an isolated case.
If you don't like it then DON'T GO. Lolllllll

If you were to actually research these facts, like the removal of prayer and the Bible you would see the proof.
Why does one need to research the OBVIOUS? Wow.... Lol /facepalm

Don't throw in the towel. There is still hope. Just pray & Wait for our Lord to restore order.
