I have been reading several books written by prominent pastors, and they are all basically saying that America is a nation that believes in God but does not trust Him to do what He says He will do.They say Christians have a higher divorce rate than non-Christians,they demand leaders with morals but do not live moral lives. The "American Church" is filled with pastors so afraid of losing their luxuries that they say whatever people want to hear.
In 1962 prayer was removed from our schools,1963 the Bible was banned.Of all industrialized nations America has since been ranked #1 in the following categories:
highest divorce rate
highest violent crime rate
highest murder rate
highest illegitimate birth rate

The pastors blame the Church for not setting an example, for not acting as Christians should act. They use a lighthouse as a symbol for the church and say our light is going out. They say there is not much time to turn things around and that if we don't there will be no return. All opinions will be graciously accepted.
GOD BLESS

I think our nation's largest problem is that the humanist movement (which sounds fantastic in theory) is Godlessness. Our entire culture in engulfed in the movement. It is wonderful that we live in a nation blessed with so many freedoms. Yet, in the effort to treat everyone fairly, God has been removed from the equation. It's easy to see why the humanist movement is so popular, life on earth can be much more enjoyable when God is absent from your thought process. We need to remember to pray for our leaders, vote with a conscience, and live a life that pleases God.

In the far future, historians will write of what doomed Western civilization. They'll know it to be television.

I think it is difficult to really know how bad or good it is right now. Many that trully follow Jesus christ and his teachings have left the churches because of false teachings. Also the voice in media and polls is given only to those that the media chooses to support and what is popular. I believe there is a strong bace of christians that truelly love and follow Christ and soon will be given there time of decipleship and voice. No matter the actions of some, Our Lord God is faithful and in power. God bless, pickles

illegitimate birth rate?? sorry but I know that is the term for it but maybe could u state that differently?? I am sort of offended by that statement...maybe born out of wedlock is better idk...i may sound dumb but i guess when u have been called an illegitimate child...it bothers u a bit...
and I would never say that about my own son...so yeah...sry...next time...a different term would be best suited..

not upset just kind of offended..

Sorry to offend you,I was copying from an article. It does not matter what you call it though,it is all the same.Being politically correct will not change things. What will change things is if kids are taught at a young age that sex is only for married people and that it is not something to "experiment".Maybe if we were a little less worried about offending people(which again I am sorry for doing)and worried more about peoples salvation we would not have the problems we have now.

in my mind believing in God is trusting in God and relying on him. so if you think America does not trust in God then in my mind the nation as a whole does not believe in God. Individuals in this nation do, but the country as a whole does not come off as Godfearing.

There is so much wrong with this. America is not in a decline, they say 40% of all statistics are made up (ba dum psh).

The American church is filled with pastors that are afraid to lose luxuries? If this is the case, why does my friends dad, who is a pastor, have to work 2 jobs to support his family? His house is about the size of my parent's living room.

1962 prayer was banned from schools? I graduated in 2006 and before my graduation ceremony the principle said a prayer (of course I live in TN and there's not much diversity). They even say a prayer before all football games as well.

Okay, EVEN if we are ranked #1 in those categories (which i highly doubt), LOOK AT OUR POPULATION! The U.S. has over 300 million citizens. Canada has about 30 million and France has about 61 million and Iraq has about 31 million. The only countries that outrank us in population are the ones like China, Japan, India, etc. Fearmongers and pessimisticists use statistics to their advantage by making it sound like we are just in chaos and despair!

Believe it or not, we are much better off than the media and such leads us to believe.

Dude, it's a RATE. Percentage. It doesn't matter how many people live in the country. 500 out of 1000 is the same 50% than 5 million out of 10 million. Besides, China ranks very low on all of that categories.

well its easy to feel bad when all you focus is on the worst. How about listing some of the things that are positive that the United States ranks 1 in. Posting just the negative is a very cynical way to look at it in my opinion. Do some more research on the subject and see if maybe that U.S. might score higher in other areas. Just my opinion, however. God bless!

in Christ,

Yes, America is a nation on the decline but God will not forsake America. Elijah thought he was alone but God had preserved other godly people to bring about change. Bro/Sis, you are not alone. Keep on praying, wait upon God. There's gonna be a Great Awakening.

You can deny it if you want. When I can't go to a City Council meeting(which are normally started with prayer)without hearing protests from people who are sick of multiple references to Christ I have to think we are not an isolated case.
If you were to actually research these facts, like the removal of prayer and the Bible you would see the proof.Like the saying goes "It's not illegal unless you get caught".All it would take is one person to complain and your school would be explaining why they are not practicing "separation of church and state".Check out the hundreds of Supreme Court cases. One school was prohibited from displaying the ten commandments because the Court was afraid they might actually follow the laws.

I agree, many people have left the churches because of false teachings! Many churches have waxed cold, and lack the fruit of Love.
When Elijah took on the false prophets of Baal, he let them go first, and when they had done all they could do to conjure up their God without success, He did what he always did at the same time He always did it, he worshiped God, and called down fire from Heaven!
Every thing has a time and a purpose, even Pharaoh was used to show the Glory of God!
Look at the east sky, for our King is coming!
Jesus!
Make straight the way, and the way is to Love God with all your heart, and to Love your neighbor as yourself!
This is what we are required and commanded to do!
Love!

Ha Ha! Sorry bros and sisters in the Lord...don't mean to take any of the seriousness of the topic away, err....I have to agree with WEN...don't call a single country by the name that was given to a whole lot of countries after a man...Americo Vespucio, a spanish man that was the first in saying....Land ahead...so, whatever it is that we are discussing, don't take that name for the U.S.A., if we are talking bout the US let's say US, cause I have many friends in America, but not specifically in USA, hehe.

America is a continent
Right you are! south america and north america do indeed make up a continent... However, I think we are discussing the United States of America... which is a nation... :)

Anyway, America has a lot of problems right now, and yes I would agree that it is in a decline. However, I think the important thing is to trust in God. Polititians and government may continue to push to remove christianity from every day life. (causing a lot of our problems with statistics) Really though, I hear of more and more faithful Christians standing up for themselves. Also as far as church leadership, there are a lot of bad leaders, I think what we fail to realize is that there always has been leaders like this. I just think they are being revealed more... one, because faithful christains are paying more attention, and two, the media makes a lot of money off of stories about "good people gone bad"

The problems here affect us all, but trust in God, never deny His name, and do what you can to aid in the fight against the government as they try to remove religious rights. Even if all you can do is pray.

God bless! God knows what's going on, trust in Him!

wow I never even realized! I know America is a continent, but for my whole life I was raised just calling the US America... To the point that we (The US) call ourselves Americans... lol maybe we should be calling ourselves USAians... lol we call people from Mexico (south america) Mexicans and people from Canada (north america) Canadians. How were we so special to call ourselves after the Continent instead of our Country name? Wow that's a lot to think about lol. That's too funny, there's this guy at work I talk to about this kinda thing all the time... He'll get a real kick outta this topic... :) hmmm....

America, or excuse me, the United States, is most definitely going down hill. Not just because our economy is a joke, not just because the leaders we repeatedly elect lie to us, not just because of the high divorce rates and amount of unwed teenage mothers or abortions.

What do you think caused all of that?

We did. As a nation. We dropped the ball, because we got comfortable. We've had things really good, over-all, for an awfully long time, and now there's nobody on Earth who can stand up and change it.

Think about it. How easy are our lives, really? We were given all sorts of freedoms that were meant to increase the quality of life for generations to come. And because we are free, what do we have to fight for?

That's the attitude we've developed; We're safe, we're successful, we're strong. It's time to relax.

And because we've just been having a nice little vacation, sneaky politicians and power-hungry people have been able to get into positions where they can tweak things to their liking.

Don't want God in our schools? Easy enough to take Him right out of nearly everything while everyone is looking the other way.

Don't want anyone to use offensive terminology (often times just calling something what it actually is)? Easy. Sue enough people for enough money, everyone else will get the picture.

We've been slowly but surely losing bits and pieces (more like huge chunks) of the very freedoms that we've grown so comfortable with...so why aren't we speaking out? Why are we just letting it all slip through our fingers?

Nobody wants to rock the boat.

As these things were happening in our country, as WORSE things were happening in our country, people were turning a blind eye to it. We'd hear about horrible things and get upset, maybe feel motivated to write a letter to a state representative, or go out and buy an anti-Obama bumper sticker. But we didn't 'rally the troops', so to speak, and put a stop to anything.

We are not a generation of revolutionaries. We don't think in terms of changing the world around us, because it's been set up pretty good FOR us.

Even when our young men are sent off to fight, we still feel pretty cozy here at home. We've gotten lazy and liberal and it's going to be one heck of a mess when the rug is pulled out from under us.

But the point that seems to have been missed, for the most part, in this thread is this:

God planned all of this.

My generation will see the things from Revelation come to pass. I believe we're already seeing the beginning stages of it- it's no coincidence that the economy is doing its best to collapse right before our eyes. Things are about to be a big mess, this nation is about to become a joke in front of the entire planet...but, God is in control.

I'm not trying to preach doom and gloom, the Book of Revelation has already done that- but, with as relaxed and blissfully oblivious as we have become, it would be wise to open our eyes and pay close attention. The U.S.A. is collapsing in on itself, according to God's plan. We can't stop it from happening even if we do find our forgotten voices and stand up and fight. But we need to pay attention. The Bible tells us to watch for the signs of His return, and if we don't wake up soon, we're going to miss them.

That's my little ray of sunshine for the day :)
