I read this devotion this morning and I thought it is a good reminder for us who have children and for those who have to be with children.

In my family album there is a picture of my 4 year old daughter with a toy hammer in her hand trying to help me with the repairs of our house. We worked side by side together that day.
She imitated every movement I did with the hammer and she was firmly convinced that she was also repairing the house. I’ve never had so much pleasure before in repairing my house.
The picture showed that she was really having fun.
The photo reminds me that our children imitate what they see or hear from us.
Also their picture of God is formed according to what we are in Christ. When we are hard and unmerciful, they will see God in the same way. When we are cold and unapproachable, God will also seem the same way to them.

As parents, one of our most important task is to help our children to know God and to see Him for what his word says, above all his unconditional love.
I learn from Him how I should live, how I should love and how my character should be.
Then he can show me how I can pass this on to my children and to others around me.

May God help us to understand Him and to give us wisdom so that our lives can impact on others around us.

I used to think the time for this was over in my life...after all, our oldest is 31, and our youngest will soon be 18.
But lately the Lord has been encouraging me to continue to speak to the children as to what He is teaching me,
and especially to continue to live as He shows me, and to be certain the children see it.

Since I was formerly the nego-queen, as per my dearest friends, I particularly want the children to see the joy the Lord fills me with.
I pray they will see me looking up, not down.
I pray they will hear words of encouragement and positiveness because of Him.
And what's so lovely is that I can now ask them to hold me accountable to Christ. :)

Thanks, Twinkle,
ellie

That is really nice that you let your kids to help you with some thngs.

I always wanted (whn i was a kid) to help my mother in the kitchen. But i can't say she was happy about it. As a kid i made a big mess in the kitchen. So- she always said thngs like-> go play with your dolls. it looks like i don't need your help. blah blah.

Guess what-i totally lost my interest in cooking. :)

I'm the same as you. I thought my time was over as well but its not. My daughter is 27 and married 2 years ago. The Lord impressed upon my heart that I have to continue to be a godly example to
her and her husband and hoping that one day God will turn the both of them towards him.
Thanks for sharing Ellie
