We're told in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 To pray without ceasing.

How in the world does one do that?

I think I found part of the answer.

Philippians 4: 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Our mind and heart can be in communion with our anxieties or our heart and mind can be in communion with God.

Many have their mind focused on their cares and anxieties instead of having it focused on God and his care for us.

It's kind of hard to pray without ceasing, if we're focused on our anxieties and cares without ceasing.

So every time you have a care or anxiety about anything, view it as an opportunity to commune and pray with God. God tells us to not be anxious about anything, but to instead present our requests to him in EVERYTHING.

Every anxiety, care and worry is just another opportunity to commune with God and engage in the activity of praying without ceasing.

Righto. We worry without ceasing, and if you pray in every instance of that, yo're praying pretty consistently!

Just keep God on your mind all the time. It's not hard. Wake in the morning say good morning Father, good morning Jesus, good morning Holy Spirit. At all places you can't pray out loud to God. But at all places you can pray to God in your mind. Everytime you see someone think God bless that person. Just always be talking to God in your mind. Thank him all day long in your mind. When you can pray out loud do so.

This is one of those truths that are easy on the page but hard to actually do.
I have been striving to do this one myself recently. It is so hard to not let the troubles of the world get to you. Praise God for Grace.

Amen..!!
I've tried praying without ceasing...it took me about 4 months for a specific request and I got an answer from God..

Precious Friends,

THIS IS A POST AFTER MY OWN HEART...................THIS IS IT, YOU SEE WHEN YOUR MIND IS ON GOD, YOU ARE CHOOSING (your will) TO SET YOUR MIND ON HIM.........COLOSSIANS 3 .....ISAIAH 26:3........THE ONE YOU QUOTED IS ANOTHER or THANKING HIM FOR EVERYTHING CONSISTENTLY, OR ALWAYS............HEY THERE ARE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF THINGS THAT WE CAN THANK HIM FOR DAILY..........

You see, that's EXACTLY what The FATHER wants............CONTINUOUS COMMUNION WITH HIM...........And here's a SECRET most don't know, (at

least the thousands of people I have met or helped) SATAN DOESN'T KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS, HE IS NOT OMNICIENT LIKE GOD IS........

He has demons, Principalities, Powers, Spiritual forces that STUDY US, they document our actions, our words, and what we watch or look at, and what

we hear............And they also have detailed knowledge of our FAMILY HISTORY............Remember they never sleep, they don't get tired like we do,

and they are always plotting against us.......SO WHEN YOU ARE SETTING YOUR MIND ON GOD, AND YOU PRACTICE THIS EACH AND EVERY DAY, YOU

ARE BUILDING A STRONG HOLD OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IN YOUR MIND AND SPIRIT.......AND HERE'S THE BEST PART, WHEN SOME THING COMES INTO

YOUR MIND, UNLESS IT IS FROM GOD, YOU IMMEDIATELY KNOW IT'S A SUGGESTION FROM DARKNESS, THE ENEMY............There's a lot more to

this......Please if you really want to learn all about it, get the book LIFETIME GUARANTEE.......it's the best 13 bucks you will ever spend on a book.

I find this to be so true. We talking about praying without ceasing but at the same time, we can all get caught up in our daily lives and the things that we need to do. Seekinghim explained it well when he said that it was a choice to make God the center or our day. So many times just put a certain part of their day to pray (morning, eating, before bed), but what most peopel forget is that God is always there not just during those times and it is important to think about God and all the things he helps you with.

I know that this is a kinda cheesy story, but I found that it really helped me to understand what it ment to be diligent and be mindful of God at all times. I was running late for work and there are numerous lights that if i hit a red one, i would certainly be late. I found that as soon as I would start to come up to a light it turned green, and I found myself thanking God for all the little things that he has done in my life. This is just one small thing that changed the course of my day, but it is one small way to understand how we choose to remember and praise God in EVERYTHING we do.

Dear Blessed2010, and Reversallen,

Wow, good responses............This is indeed the plan of GOD for all of us, be blessed My Friends...........GOD is so pleased when we ACKNOWLEDGE HIM IN ALL OF OUR WAYS...........Because then HE directs our very steps........THE STEPS OF THE RIGHTEOUS ARE ORDERED OF THE LORD......

Which is not a harsh, controlling situation, but a LOVELY GET OUT OF MY SON'S OR DAUGHTER'S WAY, THAT GOD DOES FOR US BECAUSE WE ARE HONORING HIM............AND THAT PART OF GET OUT OF MY SON'S OR DAUGHTER'S WAY............THIS IS SPOKEN TO DARKNESS, NOT OTHER PEOPLE.........We are LOVING them into The Kingdom of Our FATHER............Through CHRIST, by the Power of The HOLY SPIRIT.......

This pleases HIM so much...........fragrance results......

When I am troubled, I will ask the Lord to help me with my problem. I suppose I am sort of a pest.

I will talk a lot to the Lord about my problems. Perhaps you are right and I should not be so anxious, but maybe the Lord enjoys it when we go to him with our problems.

I always thought that is just what the Lord wants us to do. Hand him our troubles and thank him for our gifts and blessings

Hi whiteknite,
Yes, indeed. My take exactly. I recall reading an article written by a spiritually-oriented person - one for whom I have the highest regard - who stated that our prayer requests might be answered about half the time.
Although fifty percent sounds pretty good to me, I tend, as you advocate, to "hand Him" my troubles and let it go at that. More important though, I find myself thanking, more than asking. It seems to me that, this way, I realize more often how very fortunate I am in accepting things the way they are (requests for "more" notwithstanding) and how even more grateful I should be in recognizing this. Any of this make sense to you?

Yes KayCee. All of it makes sense to me. I have found that when I hand my troubles over to the Lord; I feel more at ease than when I try to handle it myself. It may take a long time, from my perspective, but I know that justice will be served to those who did me wrong. For example: Remembering the saying, "What goes around, comes around" Well, my ex-wife did a lot of wrong to me as she left as well as before. One day, a couple of years ago she sent me an e-mail telling me how her husband (her 3rd. Counting me) got access to her passwords for her online accounts and took money out of her bank account. That, among other things killed her love & trust for him. Which is EXACTLY what she did to me. Destroyed my trust and love for her i mean.
That was when I REALLY learned that lesson of the Lord handling things in his own time and his own way.

I also learned that ALL of my prayers are answered. But not always right away or how I want them answered.
Hard lessons for me to learn, but valuable lessons for me. When I was a kid, my parents both felt I was "stubborn" and now they're proud of my "persistance" But that's a topic for another posting.

I loved this!!! I too had the red light situation. I prayed out loud, my dad was in the car. we were late for my mom's viewing & it all had to work perfect to make it in time plus buy her an outfit. I said Lord please bless us with green lights for we have no time for red. my dad "moss God doesnt care about green lights he's busy thinking about world hunger and the wars" every light was green and I'd say "green light" praise the lord m'daddy" green light praise the lord... not one red light. Also I found the PERFECT outfit in 2 minutes (my mom was plus sized so this could be difficult) It all worked out perfect so they were able to dress her & have her ready for the viewing. God blessed me with green lights & paisleys. (one of her fav patterns & that was the first shirt I saw in her size)
