I have a 14 year old brother, 11, 13, and 9 year old male cousins, and they are starting to believe that they are superior to all females. They started with this argument that men are more emotionally stable (In so many less complex words) and physically stronger. Me and my 9 year old sister started arguing back and then they finally came up with the argument that since Adam was created first and Eve was created for Adam that females are inferior to males. After that, me and my sister couldn't come up with anything so we left the room. I've thought about this before, years ago, and never really had an answer for myself.

Are males superior because of the fact that Adam was created first? And...
If males are superior, what does that really mean for females?

No males aren't you know why???
Because Adam was the rough draft, Eve was the masterpiece. ;)

When God made Eve did Adam say, "I was made before you, and I am the best. I am superior to you." I don't think so. He seems to have been pleased and he accepted her as bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh. The church is the bride of Christ. Did the Lord Jesus tell the church He was superior to her? In this case, we can agree that He is superior. But He made Himself a servant.

God assigned men and women in different roles. If by 'superior' you mean authority or rank, in some relationships, men hold the superior rank. In the military, the commanding officer is a superior officer to his subordinants. But it doesn't mean one is of more intrinsic value than another. The husband is the head of the wife and the wife is to submit to her husband. But the Bible does not teach that this is because men are superior in terms of value.

There may be some male traits which are superior than the average female's. Physical strength comes to mind. Maybe men are more level headed in some ways, and that could be connected in some way with God giving the husband the leadership role. But if that is the case, I doubt your young cousins have fully developed all of these traits at their age, especially with the way they are talking. A lot of 11-year-old girls can still squash an 11-year-old boy. It does seem like girls mature faster until they reach a certain age and it levels out.

God has also blessed women with certain traits that men aren't as strong in either. Who would you rather nurse you to health, a man or a woman? Women seem to have a kind of patience and empathy that men can have, but it doesn't seem as natural. Women certainly have an advantage at being able to bear children and feed little babies naturally.

The Bible talks about some people being great in the kingdom of heaven. It doesn't say the men are greater than the women. Whoever wants to be the greatest among you shall be the servant of all. If a wife embraces her role as a wife, loves her husband, loves her children, cares for her home, submits to her husband, and really serves God with all her being, do you think God would see her as inferior to a selfish husband who likes to brag about being superior? When the day comes for the Lord to reward faithful servants, I believe some women will receive greater rewards than some of the men. Some former slaves will be more highly honored than their masters. Whatever God has created you as, in whatever role, gender, or status, do all to the glory of God. If you are a woman, be a godly woman, love God and follow His word. Men should be godly men, love God, and follow His word.

Males and females are equal :). But they have different roles.

I don't think I would bother with the time and energy in arguing with your cousins....their arrogance and ignorance are apparent. Of course, they are young so they are forgiven :). It might be entertaining to have a written copy of their thoughts....then in later years you can bring it out and show their wives. Ha-ha.

My husband's brothers had my husband (who was the youngest) sign a statement that said if he got married he had to pay each of them one million dollars. They kept it and will occasionally show it to us with big grins on their faces.

Read and study the Bible to understand how and why God created us.

It's written : " At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying,
Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. " Matthew 18:1-4

That is a very good question that is repeatedly coming up in the church concerning a wife's responsibility in the home and in the marriage. Are women inferior creatures in any way to men?
When it comes to placing value on the humans vs. animals one can suppose that man is above the animals. However... Adam became "less" of a man in order to create woman, and men were incomplete before women were created. God's plan includes both men and women, and He has made allowances for them to even cross some roles at certain times. If women were less emotionally stable them men then why are we considered the "tender sex"? Bearing the brunt of facing our emotions head on requires more fortitude then men can usually stand... hence why they so often shut their brains off. Women are crock pots and men are microwaves. Women ponder and sometimes stew about things as they deal with them. Men compartmentalize until, one day, they explode in a series of effusions. One must not generalize, however, what women and men are like, for each person is unique and created in God's image as an intelligent person with convictions, mentality, and the ability to show restraint. If all women were emotional creatures then we would fail to be a proper example for our sons of what to look for in a woman. Likewise, if all men were habitually "balanced" there would be no cases of battery in the world at all.
There is also the possibility to consider that women are better than men BECAUSE we are so open, forthright with our feelings, and usually more nurturing. I dare any man out there to do even a fraction of what we as women do in our everyday lives.
As for men being better because they are physically stronger... Since when was a person better just because they could toss a rock farther (which is not always the case) or leave a bigger dent in the wall when they lose their temper?

I think this is really the best example. If Adam was enough, women would not even need to be created, (which would be depressing because guys wouldn't have as nice a view :D). Man and woman are both dependent upon each other. As the famous saying goes, "Behind every strong man is a strong woman".

What some guys will do to get female attention.......*sigh*:p
My thoughts exactly.

We are all equal. People who think they are better than others are guilty of the sin of pride.

[20] And he said, "What comes out of a man is what defiles a man.
[21] For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, fornication, theft, murder, adultery,
[22] coveting, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, foolishness.
[23] All these evil things come from within, and they defile a man." Mark 7:20-23 RSV

The easiest "fighting" answer (against male brothers) , is that eve was the version 2.0 to the 1.0 version adam.
:)

Truth is men and woman are equal in gods eyes.

Well, think about this, men were created from dust... But women were made from the rib of the man. God was probably thinking, woah this man really needs someone to keep him in line, someone to tell him not to run with scissors and to clean himself of all the dirt, let me give him a partner to do these things for him...Wait who's side am I on?
Galatians 3:28 says, "There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus" like the post above this one said, we are equal!

Look in Psalms or Proverbs, Wisdom is referred to as SHE. Not He. But in any case, there are many places in the Bible where Jesus treated a woman with equal respect and love as any man. The woman at the well. Mary and Martha; Mary sat at Jesus' feet and listened, which women did not do then. They were not to be in on the teachings and conversations of men, but Jesus said she had chosen "the better part". The woman who touched the hem of Jesus' garment, the woman who was to be stoned. All are cases where Jesus ignored gender roles. God loves all His children, male and female.

"There is no longer Jew nor Gentile, male nor female, slave nor free, we are all one in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:28, from Paul's letter to those in Galatia.

Well first off, men are the female in the Bride, Bridegroom relationship. Jesus is the Bridegroom and Christians, the body of Christ, is the bride.

We are also to HUMBLE ourselves. Not exalt ourselves above others. We are to treat people as if they are better than us.

Luke 6:31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.
James 4:6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble."

Luke 22:26
But among you it will be different. Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant.

Wisdom is a woman :)

Proverbs 1:9 Wisdom has built her house; she has set up its seven pillars.
Proverbs 1:20 Out in the open wisdom calls aloud, she raises her voice in the public square;
