Good afternoon! Question for ya?!?! As I was praying and asking God to forgive me for something He revealed to me today, I suddenly felt the weight of God fall upon me. It was a literal weight, not painful at all, but strong enough that I was forced to bow my head. I simply could not hold it up! It was not a scary sensation but rather overwhelming and humbling. Has anyone ever experienced such a thing?

I have experienced a similar event, but in much different circumstances. Long ago I was in a bad relationship in which I was convinced I couldn't leave. I prayed so hard about my life and my choices, asking God for forgiveness and direction. One beautiful summer morning I woke up, after a night of crying and deep prayer, and it was as if God sent and angel. I woke up completely unafraid and determined to get out. Like an out of body experience, I watched as I packed nearly everything I owned in a matter of 15 minutes and loaded it in my car. It was like floating on air, with a sense of peace I had never known. I drove away that morning and never looked back. I give God all the glory for rescuing me.

I have experienced a certain heaviness...like you when I was feeling so guilty about something and in despair about it. Whether it's our head that becomes bowed, or the knee that bends, or the body that falls flat on it's face, I think it demonstrates the same thing....the burden of sin. We can't be saved until we come to this realization. Then, He helps us get up off the floor and move forward :).

C28540, no I have'nt but there is a reason why God forced you to bow your head. This position not only shows reverance to him, it shows sincerity and submission and humbleness. We cannot go to God in prayer with pride or ego or anger, etc, in our hearts. Is there something that you need to let go of in order to be earnest in heart before God? Have you been feeling prideful, or egotistic? You have felt the humbling power of God--keep abiding by it. :)

One of the words translated 'glory' could be translated 'weightiness'
