What exactly is God’s purpose for the life of His people?
Is it to use the talents we have for our own selfish purposes…
make a lot of money, drive nice cars… etc?

Tkyles2009, I will attempt to answer your questions as best I can. :)
1.) What is God's purpose for our lives? I think it is to do the best we can in the time we have here on earth. Help others, encourage them, stand up for what you know is right, etc etc.
We are called to "love one another as Jesus has loved us." This means living and acting and thinking as he would have, and did.
2.) Is it to use the talents we have? Yes absolutely! Use them for our own selfish purposes? NOPE. God did not give us talents so we could hide them away and keep them for ourselves. He intended us to use those talents and share them with others so they can pass their talents on to the next person. It's kind of like paying it forward.

3.) Make alot of money, drive nice cars, etc.? God knows we crave nice things. Clothes, vehicles, money, etc. BUT those things need to used in moderation. If you have 20 cars, lol, obviously you can afford to give some of them away to someone who doesnt have a vehicle and desperately needs one. If you have 3 huge closets full of designer clothes, you can afford to take some of them to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. Who needs 3 closets full of clothes anyway?! Lol. If you have several thousand dollars, you can afford to donate it to a charity, or even give some of it to someone who has no money at all. These are all examples of "paying it forward." :)
