Here are the opening remarks from the following blog on the Desiring God website.

"Homosexuality is not the only sin mentioned in 1 Corinthians 6:9–10.
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
It’s not the only sin mentioned, but it is different from all the rest, at least right now. At this moment in history, contrary to the other sins listed here, homosexuality is celebrated by our larger society with pioneering excitement. It’s seen as a good thing, as the new hallmark of progress.
To be sure, the masses increasingly make no bones about sin in general. Innumerable people are idolaters, not to mention those who are sexually immoral, or who commit adultery, or who steal and are greedy and get wasted and revile neighbors and swindle others. It happens all the time. And each of these unrepentant sins are the same in the sense of God’s judgment. They all deserve his wrath. And we’re constantly reminded that “such were some of you” (1 Corinthians 6:11).
[h=2]Concerning Popular Opinion[/h]But as far as I know, none of those sins are applauded so aggressively by whole groups of people who advocate for their normalcy. Sexual immorality is no longer the tip of the spear for the progressive push. Adultery is still frowned upon by many. Accusations of greed will still smear a candidate’s political campaign. Thievery is still not openly embraced, and there are no official initiatives saying it’s okay to go steal things that don’t belong to you. There’s no such thing as a drunk agenda yet. Most aren’t proud to choose a beverage over stability, and there aren’t any petitions that the government should abolish the driving restrictions of inebriated individuals. Reviling others still isn’t seen as the best way to win friends and influence people. Swindling, especially on a corporate level, usually gets someone thrown into jail. In fact, the infrastructure of the American economy depends upon, in some measure, our shared disdain for conniving scammers.
Perhaps excepting fornication, these sins are still seen in a pretty negative light. But not homosexual practice, not by those who are now speaking loudest and holding positions of prominence. According to the emerging consensus, homosexuality is different."

"Homosexuality is not the only sin mentioned but is being push as a acceptable normal and considered a new type of human , that needs more rights. And no one can say anything about or you are attacked, They don't classify drunks as a person that needs special rights so they can drink more! homosexuality is being push because its against what God says! and it has been a constant attack on all of Gods will ! and our Morals / families

It's become a progressive fad in recent years to support homosexuality. People accuse Christians of being obsessed with homosexuality but it's really our reaction to the fact that our entire culture is obsessed with the subject. I read an article just recently about how Americans overestimate the number of homosexual people in our country. According to a study that was done Americans believe that 25% of the population is gay. In reality fewer than 5% of the population are gay. The media is so saturated with the topic it's not surprising that people's perceptions are warped.

I agree with what the above mentioned website says but one problem with so much focus on homosexuality is that you then get Christians who oppose homosexuality but have no problem with shacking up with their boyfriend/girlfriend and having kids out of wedlock. I see this a lot around where I live. Certain heterosexual sins get soft balled a bit because they aren't considered to be as bad as homosexuality. It's a bit easier for pastors to preach against homosexuality than to preach against sins that a large number of their congregation indulges in.

Its more than just an obsessive fad, it is being used as a weapon by atheists and secularists to attack Christianity, because now God is breaking equality and discrimination laws by saying homosexuality is wrong.

How do we deal with this? By being pacifist and not rising to the bait. Lobby politicians, did not work. It is not as if people are being forced to be a homosexual, just let homosexuals get on being homosexuals and just smile nicely at the people shouting "BIGOT!" and tell them Jesus loves them, Jesus loves everyone including homosexuals and the invitation to get to know Christ personally is open to everyone regardless of who they are and what they do.

Then you can turn to the real Christian bigots and remind them that Jesus loves everyone and invites everyone to have a personal relationship with Him regardless of who they are what they get up to. You can then tell these Christians that they are to spread this message with love, not by telling homosexuals they are going to hell because they are homosexuals, that is horrible and wrong. Yes tell people they are going to hell, not because they are homosexual or whatever, but because they have rejected Christ. Remind these Christians that it is not thier job to transform people, that is down to Holy Spirit and Jesus.

Sodomy is a focal point because it is the sin in the list that goes against nature. It is not natural despite what many of the Sodomites claim. God has declared that it is not natural according to Romans 1. All sin is equal in Gods eyes but the natural man is offended by the things that are not natural.

I do see the wisdom of not allowing our natural emotions to color the witness we give to those deep in this sin. Very difficult for most of us to accomplish.
