Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

As I Lay Dying never said it was a "Christian Metal" band. They're a pretty mainstream metalcore band who happened to have some members that follow Christianity. I mean you wouldn't say KISS was a "Jewish Metal" band just because they're Jewish.

Just because he wasn't a true "Christian" doesn't mean he was an atheist. It's quite possible (and likely) he believed in God, but was just stupid with his beliefs.

Wow, the two of you are full of all sorts of misinformation.

AILD were reputed for their boldness about their faith. I remember when they first came on the scene, the Christian metal scene. Their first album was released by Pluto Records, a small, short lived label that put out a few other Christian bands before disappearing.
It was well known the band, the whole band, prayed together before each concert, even after they became more mainstream popular.

But, you need the sensational to push your youtube hits, right, Chosen? And yes, we all know that how a person dresses is a total reflection of his character. Because 'righteous' people only wear button ups and beards. 'Tattooed up like a freak'. You win a lot of people to Christ with that attitude?
As usual you're so eager to point fingers, make sensational videos and be critical and holier than thou. Typical post of yours. You spend a lot of time running around finding fault and getting hits on your youtube account. What better way to serve God, huh?

Listen to this type of music with your eyes closed.
Switch the sound off and listen to your soul in silence.
How does your soul feel?
Need we discuss this further?

My soul feels fine. But if you're one of those who think God can only work through certain types of music than I feel sorry for you John Agape. I could never imagine how terrible it must be going through life so close-minded. But then I see your 63, and I've learned just to ignore the musical opinions of anyone over 40 on these forums at this point. 98% of that crowd is just negative when it comes to stuff like this.

Actually music does make a difference. I used to listen to (and enjoy) heavy metal when I far from Christ but then put it away when I was back in the arms of my loving Father.

I have never seen an on-fire-for-Jesus Christian who is a heavy metal artist or even a heavy metal fan. It seems a good number of the bands are so compromised and lukewarm that crossovers are to expected and even outrageous scandal is not far away from expectation. I consider this music to be a "weight" and not a sin--similar to some other forms of secular music or television. The problem is that you are what you eat. If you are eating cake and McDonalds every day then I'm not likely to see you at the marathon the next day (or at least not doing very well at it).

This is not a salvation issue. It is a maturity issue, I think. There are many things that I have put away since coming to know Christ. I stopped caring about what brand of clothes I wear. Today I hardly wear anything that says anything on it and if it does, it's usually something about Jesus. I stopped listening to secular music. I stopped reading Game of Thrones (and even worse, watching Game of Thrones). Some things are going to slow you down in your race. If you are not willing to put them away then the question has to be asked: Are you really serious about following Jesus, or are you more serious about getting your kicks and your comfort in life? I've asked myself this very same question and it has led to me putting many things away. And, I am sure, there is still more to come because I love Jesus.

Here's a quote from a great preacher, Tim Conway:

"I want us to be serious about this race. So
what are the things that tend to weigh us down? What are the things that tend to help?
What are the things that tend to hurt? What are the things that hold us back? What is it that
distracts us? I mean anything, that is going to slow us down. Remember, we have to keep is
in our minds all the time. What is the nature of the race? The race is: A Race of Faith. That
means trusting and holding on, not giving place to deception, not giving place to worldliness.
Focused on Christ, yearning for Christ, loving Christ, running for Christ, serving Christ. For
the glory of God. Our eyes set there, our eyes beholding Christ. As we fix our eyes on Christ.
It's though He's at the finish line with His arms wide open. We're running, we're pressing
towards that prize. We're reaching forward, straining every fiber, every nerve. You do not
want the things in your life that tend to make you spiritually sluggish. You don't. What is it that takes your
mind off of being Godward? We are to set our minds on things above (Col. 3:2). What is it
that gets your minds on things below? You know what those things are. We know the things
that tend to make us worldly. We know the things that tend to make us not want to run."

Sounds like the purpose of this thread was for a bit of gossip.

Tim Lambeses admitted he didn't believe in God after all and that changed his perceptions of morality, hence murder for hire. This was a shock amongst me as I've seen early interviews of him talking about Christianity. His lyrics often had faith displayed even to the secular listener.

I see nothing wrong with relaying hope and the Gospel through such means. Be it rap, metal, tv, internet. Being a voice in a scream metal band allows you to reach those that may not find themselves in the pew on sunday. Whatever means taken. If Gods will is focused upon, let em scream. some kids dig that today.
If it ain't in the hymbook it don't mean its evil.

As for Mr. Lambeses, maybe his faith will be renewed in prison.
