A man (or a woman) is someone who loves God, and does unto his neighbor as he would do for himself. That means being moral and just and honorable with others. And as the Bible says, one who lets their yes be yes and their no, no. And is long suffering, choosing right over convenience in as much as it gets old.

You're 16, a good time to be considering these things. I assume that by not having a father figure means you did not have a father..? Right and wrong doesn't need a father, or more correctly hinges on only One Father. It's innate within you. I'm sure you can tell (discern) when something's right or wrong. You can see how people are hurt or helped by others doing right or wrong on them. A man does what's right, even if it's going to bite him in the arse. Because he knows that eventually, his arse will be rewarded for his having done so.

Anything in particular you wanted to talk about? You can pm me if you like.

A real man who is married, is kind and loving to his wife, and is an example of God before his children. He is supposed to lead the house in the ways and teachings of God, and provide for his family financially. He is to put his families needs before his own. He is patient and understanding, and not easily angered. He is one who others would be proud to call friend because he is friendly to others. He is not perfect and without fault, but he is humble enough to admit when he is wrong and to apologize for it....even to his children, and he strives to do better. This is my definition of a good man.

A father figure is someone who should guide you, give you advice, teach you about life, nurture you, provide you with a home and food, protect you, support you, the list can go on and on, but I think that gives you an idea.

Why don't you go to a church that had a men's prayer breakfast or a men's cell group and share your concern. Ask if there is a man who could disciple you.

Hello AT! Welcome to Christian Chatrooms & Forums. I read your profile first to see whom I am addressing. Your are a 16 year old girl living in the USA. You don't have a father figure to look up to.
You are asking; "what is the definition of a man?" You are not asking what is the definition of a father? What's more is your spiritual status indicates you are not certain of your faith. May I ask about your mother? What has she been teaching you? As for a father figure the bible's standards are set by God; so that the only way you and I can achieve those standards is by becoming a child of God. Then we ask God to surround us with the role models that will teach you by example what a Godly man and women are like. I know a little girl who has no mom and dad. She lives with a Mennonite family and is experiencing true joy in the Lord. I don't doubt that she will look for a man some day; just like her foster daddy. The entire family; Dad, Mom, Sons, and daughter are mature in Christ. So now I want to ask you AT; would you like to become a member of God's family? It is a matter of your eternal destination; not just going to a church. A personal matter between you and God. Please go to this site; then make a decision from your heart:
https://bible.org/article/gods-plan-salvation. May God bless you dear sister. I love you as if you were my daughter. Be blessed. :) Mr. Sherman
