He let power corrupt him in ministry and his personal life. He became arrogant and full of pride. He plagiarized people's books in his books, and would not admit it when confronted, and academic no-no!

I also liked his preaching. I saw him debate Deepak Chopra and an apostate United Methodist bishop, with a woman who was saved from prostitution. Between the two of them, and the audience, they wiped the other two off the face of the earth with their tolerance, pluralism and new age philosophies. He was very gentle, humble and mild. It shocked me to hear about this other angry, domineering face. Not good to wear two faces. That is the definition of hypocrisy!

Someone who is gifted and has a lot of good characteristics can also have character flaws. I don't think there has been much news about new stuff from Mark Driscoll except the Acts 29 group that he helped found wrote a letter expelling him, which brought him under the microscope of the media for a lot of the controversies that were already surrounding him.

We're all faulty and sinful.
Unless what He is preaching is blasphemous, I choose to recognize that God can speak through anyone, even a donkey. It doesn't negate any choices he may or may have not made (I don't know what the concern is), but I can listen to and learn from anything if God is the one who is speaking.

A pastor is to be blameless, as the Bible says. It's not enough to preach sound theology.

Driscoll's theology is good. But, as a man, he lacks the reverence a pastor needs.

Again, I don't know what the situation is, but I suppose it would depend on how many times h didn't show reverence for the position.

According to the OT, a false prophet is false because of one of two things:
1. His prophecy doesn't come true.
2. Prophesies a true message that God gave to another prophet & treats it as his own. (plagiarism)

So, according to God's standards, It would make him a hypocrite, but does it also make him a false teacher?

Satan attacks our witness by bring up our human faults for the world to see. When he can not get us to believe his lies, he gets the world to ignore our words of truth by tempting us off God's path. Then he makes sure that everyone hears about it so that the Truth will then be questioned.

I think we should pray for Mark and hope he repents and turns to God for forgiveness.
