Here's a little piece on metal in general. Skillet is no different. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWwo5H-DOUw

this is just small time metal bands. the illuminati and satanic control is EVERYWHERE throughout secular music and has made it's way into "main stream" Christian music. You can spend countless hours on YouTube looking at illuminati symbolism in the industry.

Illuminati and satanic control? I'm sorry this thread was about a christian band not some gorup of youtube conspiracy theorists who forgot to take their anti-psychotics.

it's people like this that made it hard for Simon Peter to enjoy a delicious slab of bacon now and again with thanksgiving in his heart.

they have one CD where they sing both how deep the Fathers love and Shout to the Lord very hard to get used to them singing songs like that

ah yes, their "ardent worship" contribution is still my favorite Skillet album :)

So if they DO take their psychotics they are... what? A christian band? I don't get it...

I listened to the video above and was not impressed. That Skillet song made me think "sorta Linkin Park" but definitely not making the cut. And their performance and appearance hints at "Green Day" but extreme FAIL. :p

But who am I? It's just my opinion and my opinion isn't gospel. Everyone has their own taste. I'm just saying...

Brother RyBread may be closer to the truth than any of us. And yet, there are Christians on this thread who do enjoy listening to Skillet. Who's to say the LORD can't use them to reach people's hearts and bring them to Him?

I listen to music that awakens my mind, stirs my spirit and inspires me to think on lovely and good things, like Philippians 4:8 instructs us to. I want music that propels me forward, not weighs me down. That includes all genres of musicians and singers. My music playlist is phenomenally long. From classical to jazz to rhythm & blues to 70's rock to contemporary Christian to gospel to alternative rock to rap (like P.O.D. & GRITS) to soundscapes to nature sounds.

If GOD can make a donkey talk to get HIS point across, and if GOD can make rocks cry out and give HIM praise, then I reckon the LORD can use anybody or anything HE desires to accomplish HIS will.

Here's one of my favorite songs in the WHOLE world:

VioletReigns, I fully agree with you!
Most Christian rock bands try to play rock as their first focus and then praise as secondary focus... not saying this is the case with Skillet, idk enough about them to say that, but I've definitely seen this going on... God is not really present nor the talants are stirred up to shine when He is second on the list... as a result these bands mostly end up average (to me). In general unbelievers are better in music department, they make better melodies, because of the very reason I mentioned (trying to make Christian ROCK instead of trying to make CHRISTIAN... whatever music God provides).

however anyone might be offended by their music, or their lyrics may not be at all times purely evangelical or completely devoted to praise, no one can attend a Skillet concert and come away from it without hearing them praise Jesus. if you didn't know they were Christian just by listening to their albums, you will certainly know it from hearing them on stage.
that's been true of them for their entire 20 year career, and whether you appreciate their music or not, i think that's something worthy of note.

Good point. God may use them to reach people's heart. I personally refuse to support someone who gives reverence to evil.

You can't deny their symbolism and what it represents.

oh, i don't know, maybe i can.

this hasn't always meant "Christianity" and doesn't mean it every time you see it:

and this hasn't always meant "i worship the devil" and doesn't mean it every time you see it either:

I am not talking about their lyrics. I am talking about them and who they give reverence to.

Greeks that sell fishing supplies and Texas Longhorns fans would have some valid points to make.

just my opinion though.

I want to take this moment to ,again, thank Posthuman for introducing me to good Christian music.

I really dig this ardent worship album, and Starflyer 59 is still my favorite band.
