(I read the guidelines and rules and it didn't say anything about post non-christian music)

Hi peeps! To any aspiring muso's, you will understand how hard it is to promote yourself. I've tried every possible avenue I can think of (soundcloud, twitter, facebook, instagram, got my own website, etc). I'm just wondering if anybody has any more advice on who I should/could contact to gain more exposure and what not.

I say "non-christian" music just because my content isn't strictly about God. I don't contain any profanity in my lyrics and I promote a good message....although, it's probably expected of me, I am somewhat "unorthodox" haha.

Thanks peeps.

Fortunately it is easier than ever to get your music out there. Unfortunately everyone can do it, so everyone is doing it - and frankly most of them really stink - so the good music gets lost in the background noise. This leaves us at the same place we were back when it was hard to get music out there - you still have to know someone who knows someone to make any headway.

Unfortunately I'm not someone who knows someone. The only thing I can think of would be to camp outside a major label headquarters and throw caltrops on the road to stop some cars (which probably isn't a good idea.)

Next-best thing I can think of... and this might actually work... is to get your name out to churches, offering to do free singing. If people hear you and like you some of them will go out of their way to look you up.

Yeh exactly Lynx. There's so many ideas I can think of but if everyone is doing the same thing, it's classed as spam. I'm trying to think of ways to separate myself from spam

That's the problem. Everyone is doing it, and they have ALL the channels blocked with spam! It stinks but that's the way it is.

Have you ever thought of being the opening act for another, currently popular band? That's how a lot of people get their start. Jonny Diaz even made a song about being the opening act... after he got his start that way. ^.^
