Got an album from a group and like it, but can't find anything else like it? Heard a song but you don't know what that style is, but you loved it? This thread is the place for you. Ask away. If you know a group that has a sound like someone asked about here, please feel free to answer it.

NOTE: Some of the songs posted here might seem shallow to you - I'd say a good 70% of all christian music is made just to make a buck, and it comes through in the music. If you don't like something someone posted, please don't disparage that group. The person who suggested it might get a blessing from that group. Just thank them for the recommendation. :)

For example, I'm looking for something like this:

Closest I've found so far is Ric Blair, which is fine... but I want more christian music with a Celtic flavor.

Wow, you've completely lost me...

but here goes anyway

My favorite album of all time is Christmas Eve and Other Stories by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. They are not a Christian group, but this rock opera tells a very Christian story using so many of the classically beloved Christmas carols. A true work of art.

I'm not familiar with Celtic Christian performers, but I've always been a fan of the Celtic Woman group.

Sorry I couldn't help more on that.

I could also use some more christian rap, but not just any christian rap... something that sounds like this.

And before anyone directs me to any of the multitude of christian rap threads in this forum, I've been to them. Haven't found anything that sounds quite like this. I actually don't have much hope of getting a good answer to this one, but I gotta try.

If anyone else is looking for something with a certain sound, speak up... er, sing up... or something. I probably have something in my collection that is really close to what you are looking for.

Lecrace doesn't sound like that. People just see 'rap' and say Lecrae without thinking even.

Is that what this is a rap thread or a thread of music "must haves" of various styles?

I read it three times, I hope I understood

This is a thread for anyone who is looking for more of a certain sound. If you're looking for something that sounds like... anything you can think of, post a youtube link to whatever sound it is you like and maybe someone has heard of another group that sounds like that.

If you hear something in this thread that sounds like a group you have heard before, mention that group you know of. It might be just what someone is looking for.

FOR EXAMPLE: My second post, the one where I mentioned Celtic music - If you know of any christian music with a Celtic sound, I'd be grateful if you would mention it.

FOR EXAMPLE: If you are looking for music in a certain style, I probably know a few groups that you would like. My music collection is all christian, but it is wide and varied.

Have you tried directly contacting the Church of LDS headquarters, since this is their music?

Gotcha, I sometimes dont know if the music is by christians (because I dont follow a particular group) I might just like their music.

I also dont often know either because I like a variety of instrumentals (or music with the sound I prefer but I cant understand the words in order to tell) LOL

Good idea for a thread though.

I don't know of any The Celtic Women group. The example I used was a singer, Nancy Hanson.

Willie-T I would be much obliged if you could get your wife to give you a list of the singers and groups in her music collection that are Celtic in sound. I can youtube them if I have a singer or group name. And amazon.com them if I like how they sound. :D

She said most of it is by Eden's Bridge, recorded in West Yorkshire, England. I believe the name of several of the albums is called Celtic Worship, and they have several... #1, #2, etc.

My wife has a lot of Celtic Christian stuff... but I don't think any of it is The Celtic Women.
I dont listen to all christian music myself, I forget who introduced me to them a few years back, but I really liked a few of their songs. I dont think Loreena Mckennitt is christian but I like some of her music I believe thats classified as Celtic. I really like that Egyptian, or desert type music though and she has a few pieces like that, and sort of look for that, hers are bit strong, but because I lean towards it I still like it. I also like Lindsey Stirling, and I dont know if shes a christian either but she plays a mean violin. My parents were trying to get me to play that, I couldnt get past twinkle twinkle little star on that thing, but I'll tell you I would have hung in with had Lindsey been around, man she is just so entertaining and inspiring to me when it comes to playing the way she does.

What does your wife listen to? I ll do a youtube search on them, because I typically like one or two songs per "whoever" but I never cleave to a group or a style except that one leaning I have which I cant seem to find, or at least anything I like anyway.
