I'm a massive 80s fan and was wondering if any of you knew of any Christian music that has an 80s sound to it? Thank you in advance :)

Easiest thing to do is find original recordings of 80's CHristian bands and refresh yourself with them. Petra, Stryper, WhiteCross, Larry Norman(remember the song "Why should the devil have all the good music?"), The Imperials. Youtube listings are endless.....why seek a modern group that plays retro sound when you have the availability of listening and enjoying the original?

Hoi Polloi are from the very early 90s, but they have an 80s pop/rock sound.
DC Talk's first two albums DC Talk and Nu Thang are 80s hip-hop/rap
Then there's Living Sacrifice if you like death metal.

the 77's a great example of Christian rock from the 80's . .

i agree with pwrnJC; why look for a modern band trying to sound retro? not like there weren't any Christian musicians back in the actual 80's, and that music hasn't disappeared.

Stryper is the quintessential 80s Christian band, but Larry Norman is pretty much responsible for kick-starting the Christian rock music scene in 1969.

Definitely Stryper (I haven't gotten around to collecting their music yet (only youtube for me), but I know they are THE Christian band of that era, and I have been lucky enough to hear their music on a good old- fashioned LP)

Petra is also good, and well known
Narnia is a band I haven't heard enough of to be certain, but it seems they are very similar to Petra

PS: If you find one band you like, go to last.fm, look the band up, and click "similar artists"

Narnia played a sort of power metal that's similar to styles that started up in the 80's, which you can especially hear in the vocals, but they actually didn't become a band until the mid 90's. i'd say they are more 'technical' than Petra was..
if you like this sort of music, the singer German Pascual (during later years of Narnia) has been involved in a number of Christian rock bands (Golden Resurrection, Mind's Eye, also solo albums) you should look into, all with the same style & really accomplished guitar-playing.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for all of the replies! I quite agree, actual original 80s bands are fantastic, I just wondered if there was anything modern that had an 80s sound as well. I will be spending a while YouTubing everything :) thank you again!

Hi! I am a Bod Dylan fan and I wrote a song and put it on Youtube. I named it "Open the Door". If you are interested I can tell you how to find it.
