If you started a Christian band, what would you call yourself? And what would your style of music be? I'd like to call ourselves "Cruci-fiction?" and be a bay area style thrash metal band. The name obviously asking "is Christ REALLY fake?".. targeting the unbelievers. Now to just grow out that hair....

I would name my band "The Unreliables" and never show up for any of our gigs.

The mo-ped....and drive in on mopeds and have awesome drum solos (hence the mo-ped meaning more pedalling/drumming)

Hmm.. as far as serious I would call myself
The Unwanted.....b/c Christ takes in rejects that people don't want.....groover/techno/dance mixed with some electric pop synth sound...massive use of synthesizers and beat machines, real life lyrics not the constant CCM grace stuff but down and dirty talking about getting saved from real life issues like depression, apathy, sorrow, grief of death, etc.....

I like the name The Unwanted. I'm not sure what "CCM" grace stuff is... but if you're talking like praise stuff that just seems so overwhelmingly not real I hear ya. lol

Yup exactly, like Matt Redman writes good songs but they all are about grace and 90% are in the key of b/bminor he even admits it himself on youtube lol when challenged by chris tomlin on it.....it gets boring and even secular people who listen to CCm once in a while say all the songs sound and say the same things.....there truly is no variety which is sad compared to secular music and their diverse plots for songs/stories....

yea it's great to sing about the cross and all that....but singing about the application of the sacrifice of Christ to our broken lives is much more relevant and relatable imo....

I think that's a bit of a stretch if you catch my drift....

As a teen I was in a band. We had a few names but can only remember two. One was Exhortation. Another was Redrum Natas. A name we never used but I also thought of was Forbidden Religion. In our minds we were Metallica meets Megadeth meets Pantera. My buddy said we were more like. Black Flag. 0.o Just less talented. o.0
He was probably right. =P

I get in the mood to do all kinds of styles at various times. I get band names frequently. Ideas for things. Just one problem. A lack of any real musical talent. : /

Weakness.

Remember that Avalon song, "It's only for the weak?"

It's only for the weak
For the faint of heart
Those driven to their knees
Those who live with scars
There's power from beyond
We're certain where it's from
And that's our source of strength

Before we follow Christ
We need to be advised
It's only for the weak

The style would probably be something like Building 421, and the subject matter would be strictly Steve Camp. (What? That covers a lot of ground!)

"anything goes", desert style rock with a name that targets people living in guilt, pointing out forgiveness and the unfounded things people think are sinful that there is no religious laws about

I was in a r&b band in highschool and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I like the name Two Mile Walk for a Christian band.
And if I was ever in a band again, it would have to be a blues band

There was a Norwegian rock band in the 80's that was called:

Morten Jørgensen og spekkhoggerne som fulgte etter danskebåten uten å røre spyet som rant fra ripa

Roughly meaning
Morten Jørgensen and the orcas that followed the Ferry [Norway- Denmark] without touching the vomit flowing over the side
