What instrument do you play? And what genre do you play it in? What level of experience do you have and how long have you been playing?

I have been playing an electric guitar for about 3 months but I am still a beginner. I played the saxophone all throughout my childhood but I was never good at it. :P

I've went to piano lessons for 14 years and picked up acoustic guitar about 5 years ago. Diplomas in both.
I'm a real acoustic player. I don't necessarily only listen to acoustic music but when I'm playing, I like to tweak the songs to give a stripped vibe. I also have this thing were I buy/rent a new random instrument for as cheap as I can every year and challenge myself to learn at least one song per month on it. I've done this for three years and so far the instruments have been bass guitar, ukelele and drums. Haven't picked one for this year yet so ideas are welcome!! Haha

Try whistle. This would be a good introduction to the wind instruments. And then, go into either a flute, oboe, or clarinet. Or if you want to stick with string instruments, try the violin, viola (the best instrument out there, and I'm not bias,) or cello. Also, if you can play the bass guitar, you should be able to transfer the fingerings to the double bass.

Guitar is the only instrument I'm decent at, though by no means great. After a decade you would think I would be pretty good, but I'm easily distracted. Every now and then I find a song with a lovely sound that brings me to mess around on my guitar more than usual. Currently that song is Always A Woman, by Billy Joel. As that song indicates, I like things with a simple yet beautiful sound. That said, I would also like to get into an electric and try my hand at rocking. I've tried some stuff on my acoustic, but obviously it's not going to be quite as convincing.

    I'm good at air guitar.

But sometimes the air isn't very good where I live...

and I think it affects my music.

that's awesome! I suggest maybe you try the violin or harp (though that's not really an instrument that's needed in basic songs but it'd be pretty neat to know how to do lol)

youre like a magical virtuoso haha

I play several instruments, but mainly keyboard and guitar. I started playing piano when I was old enough to reach the keyboard :P I had lessons from about 6 years old. I passed grade 8 in piano at 13 and guitar at 14 if that means anything to you? I sing and play with the band in church, but that's about it. My dad was (is?) a professional musician so I was surrounded by music, musicians and instruments as a kid which was a great help and inspiration. I love the comment on here about the air guitar

I gave harp a go a few years ago and would love to pick it up again. As for the violin, I used to play cello but never wuite got the hang of it so I may give it try at some point too!
    Thanks for the suggestions

If you like the lower sound of the cello, I would go with the viola, as it's only an octave higher, and played similarly to the violin. However, you would need to learn a new clef.

I blame it on the humidity level.
