I enjoy bands like Skillet and Fireflight

And please if you are going to say "you shouldn't listen to that type of music" don't bother replying.

i try to turn as many people as i can onto Wovenhand.

it's musically much much more than "hard rock" though there are strong elements of the genre in most of their albums, blending folk, rock, blues and native rhythms with a whole bag of other eclectica. you're going to find a heck of a lot more scripture references and allusions in this than you will in Skillet or Fireflight. just look at the lyrics below and try to piece out where in the Bible these things are coming from -- almost every line. for example, the title is a direct reference to Zechariah 10:8
that kind of reflection on the Word is really just not present in the bands you mentioned, and this together with what i consider to be really excellent and superior musicianship is why i try to turn Christians on to it.

"
the threshing floor" and "long horn" may be the best albums to start with, but here's a pretty "rocking" song from a more recent album:

Lord of hosts
Exalted in judgement
The lambs feed after their manner
God is holy
All the strangers come in
Sit down and eat
Woe unto them
Vanity's unbelieving
In the judgement seat

Them that say
Let Him make speed
And hasten to His work
That we may see it
Woe unto them
Their light for darkness
Their bitter for sweet

Hiss
Hiss

Who justifies and frees the guilty
For a bribe
As the tongue devours the stubble
As the dry grass sinks down
In the flame and dies
As the bees are hissed
From out their hives

Look, He lifts up a signal
To the hostiles from agar
He will hiss for them
From the ends of the earth
Behold they come
They come swiftly
Swiftly

None is weary
Or stumbles among them
None slumbers or sleeps
Arrows sharp
All bows are bent
Their horses' hooves look like flint
Their whirring wheels
Like a whirlwind wild
From afar the roaring sea child
Like a churning of the foaming sea

That's the way it looks to me
That's the way it looks to me

Darkness and distress
Woe unto them
Their light for darkness
Woe unto them
This bitter for sweet

I suggest Demon Hunter to everyone. However they are definitely metal and you asked for hard rock, so I suggest bands like Pillar, Disciple, Red, Kutless. There similar to Skillet.

Where is the border between hard rock and metal and heavy metal?

The names I can remember at the top of my head
Extol
Vaakevandring
Slechtvalk

Petra or Narnia for happy style (They're not particularly heavy)

Motorhead did have their own style, speaking on the band Nitrogods,, song(wasted in Berlin) sounds a lot like ace of spades. they could be a tribute band if they wanted too, the lead singer sounds a lot like Lemmy... :)

I do hope they received that additional pair of trousers they prayed for, no matter how satirical it may have been.

Extol is definitely metal. I believe they consider themselves death metal...or should it be resurrection metal? lol The Blueprint Dives album, however, was a much more mellow one and it honestly didn't sound like the same band. That was actually the first album I listened to so I had no idea they were so heavy.

I just watched them on youtube and I'm digging the vocals on it. I might have to invest in them.

Extol started out as black metal, went more to a death metal style then transitioned into a more commercial metal style.
Vaakevandring is black metal.
Slechtvalk is battle/black metal.

Petra is AOR/rock.
Narnia is power metal.

There are too many darn titles! Doom Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal, Viking Metal, Grindcore, Screamo(Which is horrible btw) I can never tell the difference between them except maybe Viking metal and power Metal I might be able to tell the difference.

Not to mention genres have subgenres. Like in DM there's brutal slam, melodic, old school, blackened. Viking many times falls under BM, as well as battle and folk. Doom has stoner and death doom. It's insane as that's just a sample of many more subgenres.
Have to be a connisuer of metal to sift through them. And many modern kids can't distinguish. Such as metalcore is not the same as hardcore. Deathcore is not the same as death metal.
