I don't listen to Skillet, but the lyrics you've provided mean absolutely nothing. For all you know, maybe they lost their faith in something else, and are looking for Jesus, aka "their hero" to save their life..

Matthew 14
29“Come,” said Jesus. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.
30But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and took hold of Peter. “You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?”

So you take a few lines out of a single song and presume to know the hearts of a few people you don't know. But when scripture counters your assumption you scoff. For someone so quick to condemn others hearts with so little to go on you sure get offended when Actual truth is presented.

I never want to condemn others. Never! Far be it from me. Please do not assume such a thing, and you are seemingly doing to me what you say I am doing to another. That passage you are referring is talking about Peter's lack of faith, which has nothing to do with whether a band is Christian or not. It is okay to ask, and is not wrong to question someone's faith if you don't see their fruits. When you look at all the lyrics over the years and the things that John Cooper says in interviews, it is a logical question. The real question here is why you are responding the way you are. Thank you for your understanding, and God bless you.

Thoughts on this? I'm just going by their lyrics:
fair enough! & let's be thorough.
these are also their lyrics:

Come and fear the Lord
And quake at his mights
Come and bow your knee
And lift His banner higher

Jesus be glorified
Jesus be glorified
Jesus be glorified
Jesus be glorified

Let the nations sing
Of the goodness of God
And let the people bring
Their lives to the cross

Jesus be glorified
Jesus be glorified
Jesus be glorified
Jesus be glorified

Everyone will see the King of Kings
Ruler of the earth and everything
Everyone will worship

Jesus be glorified
Jesus be glorified
Jesus be glorified
Jesus be glorified

The song (which is 8 years old by the way), is about trying not to lose your faith. Losing your faith is presented in a negative light. I'm not sure what the problem is.

You mean a band might LIE about who they are or what they believe to try and gain a fanbase to increase their popularity? I'm absolutely shocked! Let's get the torches and pitchforks!

LOL

I believe it was Posthuman who gave lyrics here, that contradict your belief that Skillet isn't a Christian band.. Maybe you just find the harder truths difficult to swallow.. ;)

Amazed at the level of sarcasm presented here.

I am simply amazed at the level of sarcasm presented here. If you have a good reason to believe otherwise to whether or not Skillet is really standing for the truth, please share it with a sound, reasonable argument, with evidences and without a sarcastic remark. We are talking Truth here guys, truth of Christianity and about those who claim to follow him. In the last days many will "fall away" from the faith, and the "love of most will grow cold". Are we interested in the truth of the word of God or not here? Is this not forum not called "'Christian Chat'? This is not a laughing matter or a casual conversation. Read the article I wrote that includes Skillet, and other bands, and make a sound judgment. Take these things seriously, because the days in which we live are evil, and we absolutely must be discerning. http://thehardertruths.blogspot.com/2017/02/christian-music-theology-bad-to-worse.html

I see on your blog, you mention the corna sign, the horn thing with the hands, or some see it as raising both arms up to rock out.

either way are there any scripture verses about the corna sign or using hand gestures as referring to the devil?

I believe the lyrics include a lot of questioning, and after so many years, Mr. Cooper should not be questioning, but rather I would think he should be ready to move from milk to solid food, and we should be able to see fruit that manifests itself in not only his lyrics, but how he looks, acts, and speaks. Looks a lot like the world, and I am making a judgment going by what I see. I can see he seems like a very, very nice guy who cares about people, and am concerned for him. I pray for him as well, not that I am perfect, but I care for these people very much.

Not directly with hand symbols, but the bible says things like "Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them." (Ephesians 5:11). The world uses this hand symbol which symbolizes rebellion and in many cases, Satan worship, or at least the agreement of such. Rock is generally used as rebelliousness against the Lord, and also in many cases is demonic. Why should a Christian try to emulate the world and what it represents? Look like a Christian, act like one, and don't try to look like the world. The world is passing away and the desires of it, but the one who does the will of God abides forever.

Yes, seriously... those lyrics sounds like someone with little bitty faith... like someone need to grow up and STAND with the Lord based on His promises and get out of the nursery!

And, where did the say the Name of Jesus Christ?

Saying "God" could mean a bunch of stuff as people take that differently.

There's only one Name given among men whereby we can be saved and that is the Name of Jesus.

I always thought it odd that many Christian bands don't use the Name of Jesus.

I've heard it claimed that some musicians who cannot initially break in to secular music scene goes to the Christian market and once they get some popularity going they crossover to secular.

Don't take it personally... everyone has an opinion that others thinks is sarcastic.

In the end, the only point of view that will matter will be the Lord's.

Exactly... the devil uses music and entertainment in general as an inroad in to influencing people's thoughts... it's a major way he brings forth blindness to get people to ignore God's Word and thus ignoring the Lord.

I am not a fan or expert on the group, but I just read this article (One of America’s Most Successful Rock Bands Is an Under-the-Radar Christian Group With a Life-Changing Message – TheBlaze), and if it's true, their fruit is good.

Those lyrics are good because it can bring someone into the fold (as they did based on that article I cited) in a non-threatening, empathetic way.

It's always difficult to judge someone else's heart, nor should we. But, I see your point. Should we listen to their music? Should we recommend it to others? All I can say is pray and follow what the Holy Spirit places on your heart.
