Has any of you sung hymns in your church where one or more of the verses was omitted?

In my church, two hymns which come to mind are "How Great Thou Art" and "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross". In both cases, the second verse is not sung.

In my previous church we would sing those verses. :)

Well, by all means... time to dump that church for not singing ALL the verses!

Really... it's not that big of a deal.

Maybe you can make an appointment with the Pastor and demand an answer to this miscarriage of justice!

Nah, I'm just joshin ya... I wouldn't care if it were me, but maybe the choir director can shed some light on this...

I think it is preference. There are, however, some songs that tell a story and if you remove a verse, it's like leaving out chapters 4-6 of a book. I know churches all over the US do it frequently now, but I remember growing up in the 70s and the Lutheran churches I attended did it regularly. So, it is not a 21 Century happening, but a happening that has been happening for at least 40 years. And I'd bet it has been happening for 100 years in the US in all kinds of protestant churches.
