Rock n roll is devils music! Seriously though.

Looking back, secular music was my portal to another world,an escape. Drugs seemed to go so perfectly with it.

What a ride the devil can give. It is where he takes you that is shocking. I remember when black Sabbath first came out. I was 13 or so and had my first girlfriend. She was much older and she and the rock music mesmerize me. Then came Woodstock and entered drugs but not too much girls because I couldn't deal with them. All relationships fall apart in that arena.

Satan got him a big playground with me and my buddies.

The life of the sinner is a hard life.

Any sentimentality, for me,and my past, and past relationships is pure death.

Just in the past 2 years the Holy life thingy is getting absolutely a red line in the sand.

Very serious where we are situated.

Rock and roll was my parents music that just grew on me over time. I tend to think Floyd and Hendrix helped to lead me into an interest in tripping out in my younger years. It's only by the grace of God that drugs didn't permanently destroy my mind or blow out my heart, I'm glade to be out of that lifestyle, thank you lord!

Rock and roll was my parents music that just grew on me over time.

i grew up hearing a big variety of musical genres from a lot of different sources. folk, gospel, bluegrass, jazz, metal, psychedelic, reggae, foreign ethnic songs, mainly Mexican, African & Slavic, classical, big-band era, pop, electronic . . . and more. i'm grateful for that.

what we loosely call '
rock and roll' in a lot of ways reminds me of the sounds of machinery in my everyday life, when stripped of the more atmospheric elements, for example the rhythm & sound of a long, passing freight train over well-worn tracks.

look at the experiences some of you describe here, things you've done that are unrelated to timbre, pitch & tone of any sounds, but that you associate with those things anyway, like a smell might trigger memories of some event that really has nothing to do with the smell at all. consider how relevant this passage is to the discussion:

However, not all possess this knowledge. But some, through former association with idols, eat food as really offered to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.
(1 Corinthians 8:7)

Sometimes Jesus calls upon the ones that love him, to go and search for these secular people these withering flowers in the desert who have lost all hope, who need someone to show them that love is not dead but alive and need someone willing to share some of that water they know and live on. For these withering flowers have no showers of water to bring them back to life.

My reason for posting above is, we never know where we might run into one of these secular band members or past band members etc. they are people too and they live among us, they could could be a neighbor, could be someone behind you in a hardware store check out line or someone standing in the back of church for the first time, we just never know when God moves someone to connect to another who's testimony can have a profound effect on their life. We should strive to be ones that stand up in church move to the back of the church and talk with them or speak to the one who doesn't smile in hardware store etc. I've seen and been in churches etc, were no one stands and says hello to the new face in the back of the room, just the smallest of things can have such huge impact on someone.

What would tickle me pink, would be if all the churches and synagogues etc. across the whole world if only for one day those halls were empty not a sound with in them, and all those people were in the streets or parks or where ever other than church for a day and reaching and giving that living water of testimonies and Love.

Now that would be a beautiful scene in my eyes. :)

they say Marley was a 'deathbed conversion' - there's controversy over it, anyhow.

i like this song:
