speaking of that, i heard someone point something recently about the parable of the wheat and the tares ((Matthew 13:24-30)):

Jesus explains this parable to the disciples ((Matthew 13:37-43)). in this parable, the servants notice that tares have been sown among the wheat, and they ask the owner of the field whether they should go through and uproot them? He says no, you may uproot the good while you are trying to weed out the bad. instead, let the reapers separate them at the time of harvest. later, in the explanation, Jesus identifies Himself as the one who sows the good seed, which is interesting in itself, because some people like to think of themselves as the ones who sow the seed - but the interesting thing pointed out to me was this: Jesus identifies the reapers, who do the actual separating, as His angels. not us.

it is the angels who shall separate the tares from the wheat, not the workers in the field. a conclusion that can easily be drawn from this is that we're too stupid & clumsy to be trusted to go through the field trying to separate tares from wheat, especially before harvest time; that task is not ours but belongs to His angels.

something to think about, i think, when anyone decides in their mind that they are wise enough & capable to make decisions about whether some musical genre is holy or evil. this parable would seem to indicate that no, we're not qualified.

Well said...although I do believe Jesus expects us to exercise a certain amount of discretion regarding music, or anything else for that matter.

There's a fine line between exercising necessary judgment and being judgmental.

Well, back in the day teenagers would go out riding in a car and find a place to have sex, the car would rock and roll while they would listen to music, eventaualy that music became know as rock and roll.

Most rock and roll is about rebbelion, sex, and using drugs, like The beatels song Strawberry fields is accualy about shooting up heiroine, strawberry flieds are the little red bump that appear on the skin after shooting up.

The rock and roll that's not satanic is written by athiest,(Pink Floyd, Billy Joe) panteist, (James Taylor ) bahaist, (Seals and Crofts) and eastern spiritist. ( Yes, The Doors, Hall and Oats)

Such music doesn't honor Christ and feeds the mind on ungodly philosophies.

Not all rock stlyed music is evil, but most of secular rock is. Brothers and sisters in Christ please be dicerning with what you listen to and fill your minds with what's good and pleasing to The Lord.

here is my theory and I pray I am not wrong. I listen to rock music OZZY. Metallica, Guns and roses etrc.. Yes I am not going to lie some of it is pretty trashy. But some of these artists have sooooo much talent it is not funny. I also listen to the doors zepplin ,all kinds of rock n roll from the 60's 70's 80's etc. Even though some of these music themes may have a so called satanic persona does not mean that people who listen to it worship the devil or anyting like most of the lyrics to these song some dark I will not lie are about world situations personal things sings have struggled with etc... it is not more then artists telling a story... I pray as long as I believe that what I am listening to is not going to change my mind how i feel about the Lord I should be fine. because if not I am in a world of trouble because some of these songs dark as they may seem sometimes give me hope because I listen and I learn that even famous people have really struggles and their songs are great. So hopefully God knows that the music to me tells nothing more then stories and I will always love God...

Ok, but if you know that the music is evil, why listen? Why enjoy the sins of others?

Ozzy, mettalica, and zepplen are sananist. Their view of the world is evil, they support evil.
Have you ever heard Black Sabbath's song Suicide Solution? Many people committed suicide listening to their song that promotes suicide! Ozzy wants you to put a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger! These people hate God and his creation.

Please, if you are serious about following Christ and denouncing Satan and his ways then get that filth out of your life. I only say this because I care.

Seems the biggest problem with this thread is one person insisting his view is the only view. And pushing that view over and over. Add to that some poor wording and this thread is a mess.

What the OP should have done is bypassed a thread name that sounds attention grabbing and instead used a clear one. Then proceed to write a clear, concise, thought out thread instead of something that sounded like he was making it up as he typed.
These two errors alone have caused so many miscommunication between him and the readers.
Secondly he needs to stop pushing the message so hard. If this is his conviction then he's free, by God, to make his choices accordingly. It's even fine to voice the opinion. But to sit here for weeks pushing and pressuring on a personal, subjective matter is useless, and even worse FRUITLESS.

OP your views are Not the only view or the right view for everyone. Instead of pushing your views just out information out there and let people decide this subjective matter in their own heart, between them and God. You are Not required to be in the middle of that.
Biblically speaking different people will have different convictions on some topics. You'll do well to learn, and accept, that part of the bible, then live it out and stop trying to badger people into your subjective belief.

I don't get why people are having so much trouble understanding.

Here's the topic summed up: a large portion of rock music contains ungodly messages. I mentioned a few bands as examples. NOT ALL ROCK MUSIC IS EVIL. Focus your minds on what is good as Scripture commands.

You want to listen to Satanist sing about how they view life go right ahead, just know that they hate God, they want to destroy Christianity.
