Not to seem narcissistic or anything, but I actually like to write my own music. It's mostly what I listen to... :\

If any of you would like to hear some of it, you can go to my SoundCloud page here. Some of it is worship-style music and some of it is just instrumental. I use some free software and occasionally mix in real instruments. I do all the vocals, too.

Let me know if you have any suggestions. My brother says I need drum beats, but I'm not good at that! :)

yea, pretty interesting, I agree with your brother, it needs a little more hits and perhaps some bass, and then when you're singing sing louder and fuller so to make others want to sing along. I do my own thing with music also perhaps I can place some percussive instruments here and there, not every song has to be like that though, it's good to have variety, and be as versatile as possible.

What do you mean by "hits"? I do want to add more bass, but the equipment I have right now doesn't let me hear it the way it should sound. So I usually end up overdoing the bass and it drowns out everything else.

Good points about the vocals, too. I actually sing a lot fuller than I used to! Some people compliment me on it because they appreciate that it doesn't sound like I'm yelling, as some singers kind of do. But I do agree I could sing out a little more.

I also want to maintain a degree of intimacy in some of my songs, though. Not all of them are really supposed to be sung along with. Actually, most of my songs are very personal, but only I would know the stories behind them.

As far as my music in general... Do you think it's worth continuing? I want it to be a blessing and thought-provoker for others. But if my voice is really terrible or the music is just plain bad, I need to know. So feel free to dash my dreams to the ground if you want! :)

Alright, I have uploaded a version with my own vocals on SoundCloud. It was my first time recording since moving to a new home, so I have to get the acoustics figured out still. But, for now, here's what I've got.

Of course they are worth continuing! You are a blessing, and i found no terrible voice when i clicked on your site bookmarked some days ago, and no one should dash your dreams=). It was just refreshing to hear something different on a sleepless night w/ lots of thoughts in my head. God bless, and hope to hear more of your work.

You know, the funny thing is I found that song at the end of a rebooted Commodore 64 computer game and I thought it was hilarious. I even did my own version (not worth sharing!).

However, I see no resemblance to my song that you referred to! but there is that connection, so I must be too limited by my own perspective to realize it. :)

Thank you! I'm glad to hear your perspective. I usually only hear the opinions of family members or very close friends and I want to believe them, but I also am afraid they're biased because they know me. I don't know you at all, so your opinion means a lot! I'm glad that it helped you with your sleepless night.

Maybe I will post another one sometimes and share it here.
