Default I need some good Christian music that doesn't mention God or Jesus too much...

My wife drives a school bus. She isn't allowed to "push religion" on kids. She is trying to play music on her bus with a Christian message without being TOO obvious.

It's pretty sick that they can listen to radio trash about sex and drugs but the state will not let them play songs that talk about God.

She does but it can't be every song. Hence why I need the type of songs in the title.

That's a vague request. Any particular genres? Age of the kids?

It seems sick, but what if it were ok? Then other religions would have the same option.

A cogent and valid point. You would be REALLY unhappy if other religions claimed they had a right to play their music on the school bus too.

But to the topic at hand: You're probably going to have to make your own playlist. Without knowing your wife's preferred music style I can't make any recommendations, but you'll probably just have to go through song-by-song and compile your own collection for playing on the bus.

So just what style are we going for here? Southern gospel? Christian pop? R&B?

Elementary, junior high and high school. We listen to KSBJ Houston but she's much more diverse than I am. And the students are very diverse. So anything rock, pop and R&B.

    Just positive happy songs.

    Anointed is pretty good.
    Doesn't once say God.

Kelly Minter would fit the bill, but I can't find any of her good songs on youtube. Try to find her album "Good Day."

    Cory Lamb perhaps?

You might just have to listen to songs and make a note when one pops up that would be good to include in the bus playlist. :-/

I have worked in the School System for 32 years. And to note: The School System is apart of the World System for sure. I learned that my act of faithfulness was not to compromise God's message but to ask Him to allow the fullness of the gospel to be present in my testimony and acts of faithfulness there. Yes, I had to obey those laws too, but what concerns me is how many Christian teacher's I know, are compromising their own fervency for their life in Christ and labelling it, as what they have to do as they are workers for the School. This is not what God would have me do at all. I pray that God open doors of opportunity, while obeying their laws. Yet, you will find with such a prayer life, that God does open doors and you need not compromise the Bible's potency at all.

I understand your stance and desire to serve God. To get some God in is better than no God right? Ok, let that be a plan, but guard your heart that your loyalty to His Word is never compromised along the way. Either for you, or your wife, so as the things God works thru you to share will not lack spiritual empowerment. Seek Him first with all your strength and prayers, and He will open many other doors as well.

I always say, "Greater is He that is in me, than He that rules my School!" Smile. .

I don't live in Houston so no idea what that is.

Those genres are not of much interest to me, so I am not going to be much help.

Because your wife is working for a government entity, it's her responsibility to respect the separation of church and state. This is in respect to both Christians and non-Christians. If your wife plays Christian songs to children on her bus, then what right will you use to confront government workers who push other religions such as Islam? Even if she had no qualms with the hypocrisy, to try and subtly introduce God to children without them or their parents realizing it is not the proper way to proselytize.

Government has a nasty habit of bastardizing religion, including Christianity - off the top of my head, some examples would be the Church of England and the Nazi party, being two insanely huge offenders of taking the Bible and twisting it for their own gains. If you believe the government should leave religion to individuals, to the private sector, then your wife should respect her position and avoid playing Christian music while working for the government and instead focus on spreading the gospel during her own free time. If your wife believes the U.S. government will never bastardize Christianity, and that her and the rest of the American government should preach about God, then I'm afraid to say this but she is being naive.

If she insists on abusing her power as a government worker, then she may as well avoid beating around the bush and talk to the kids about Jesus herself. This will likely result in her getting fired, but it's really the only honest way of proselytizing. To try and spread the gospel in such a sly manner, that just doesn't sound very Christian to me.

Your wife should save the proselytizing for when she isn't on the clock or the government's dime. I'm sure she already is involved in many Christian activities outside of work, but if not she can always get involved in other ways such as helping out with youth groups.

    Romans 14:11 [Full Chapter]
For it is written: “As I live, says the Lord, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God.”

    Play some old school Newsboys.

You can find almost any Christian song played only through INSTRUMENTAL music. Maybe some of the kids will know them and sing the lyrics for her.

Dear Liber: Please do not accuse people of things they did not say.

If you read the first post in this thread you will see there was no mention of trying to slyly sneak christian stuff into a school bus. We just want some songs here that have a better message than the average secular rap song.

Now if you were talking to ME... what you said might be a bit more on point, because my first suggestions were made from the same direction you were talking about. That was my bad.

I should have suggested Tony Vincent instead.
    "Do you sing at church?"
