This song reminds me of the time my three sons and I went hiking in the beautiful Northwest Mountains here in the United States, and as we travelled up the mountains to our destination - a goal of about 7 miles one way, I remember it was the first long hike for my youngest boy Elijah who was 12 years old. He and the other boys and I often went on 3 mile jaunts, but this was the big one to him.
There was a point in the hike where water falls trickled down the slop of the hill and the path was very narrow and slippery because of it, it had moss on the side of the stones, and part of the path itself was broken away and had fallen down the slops. There was a small fallen tree trunk that was held up on the edge of the narrow path simply by its own weight. My youngest jumped up on that thing and went to run down to the end of it to jump off and rejoin the narrow path, parallel to the path itself. Half way he suddenly slipped off as I was telling him to get back on the main path.
He landed on the outside of the log on a small strip of about 6-10 inches of small plants, small twigs and a small clump of weeds, which helped stop him from falling immediately approx. 350 feet straight down to a bundle of rocks, which I would not have been able to go to even if he fell, without a helicopter.
I was about 7 feet away at the time of the fall, but miraculously I darted immediately and also grabbed him by the coat just in time to keep his inertia from toppling him over the side. But this was after the small plants and weeds and twig slowed him down. I was hit hard right there in the pathway. He was shocked, as was I, and I stopped immediately and prayed a thanksgiving prayer that God had just saved my son's life. My boy of 12 yrs old. He still talks about it as if I saved his life that day, but it was not me, it was God. I literally felt like this song - "Jesus, thank You for taking the wheel, and saving Him!" Circumstances, and miraculaous placement of weeds, and my uncanny reaction time as well - it was all Him who established that moment. I still thank Him today for that re-gifted human He returned to me unharmed!
