Who here likes Christian Rap? I pretty much grew up listening to Hip Hop, so I really love rap. I don't listen to the secular stuff anymore, but there are a lot of good Christian rappers out there. Here's a sampling for you all. What do you guys think?

I absolutely love Reggae, and many reggae/hip hop mixes. Many of the lyrics in reggae are about God. Sure they have a skewed understanding of God (Certain former Ethiopian leader. Cough...). If they replaced Jah with Jesus I would love it that much more.

But hey the stuff Bob Marley wrote is genius and a lot of it comes directly from the old testament.

You may think I'm weird, but I prefer Reggae to contemporary christian music. Maybe it sounds more "real" and less fabricated. It doesn't sound like Justin Bieber singing "Jesus Jesus Jesus" instead of "Baby Baby Baby". Thats just my personal opinion. Its okay if you like Christian pop. I have been forcing myself to try some of it because some of it is good.

I have no problem with rap as a genre.

But I do object to 'art' that encourages ignorance.

Dis be who I be, dawg. Rollin 4 da Lawd. U need ta be havin dat sweet Jeez all up in ur lyfe, son, blastin dem Jeezy jamz lettin peeps no wat u iz 4.

Not everything mentioned here is like that, of course. There are some really smart rappers out there who think enough of their audience to put out such a powerful message in an eloquent, powerful way. Just like in the conversations about Christian hardcore and all that nonsense, I prefer the stuff that elevates to be worthy of the preaching.

I'm sure that every rapper we list here is great and brings honor to God. I just have to say though that Lecrae is probably the BEST I've ever heard. He and PRo have the sickest beats and most God-honoring lyrics I've found. ^.^

I'm not a big fan of rap, but I do really enjoy Manafest
