Music belongs to God and not the world.
When we take rap/rock or any other kinda music and use it to send a message about sex, drugs, money and so on
Then it becomes worldly. But if we take it to send a message about Gods word and who he is. Then it becomes a tool to Glorify our Lord.
God gave many people amazing talents. How they use them is up to them but those who love God use it to glorify him.
Teens like rap and rock. What better way to tell them about God than to do it in a way they will like , take to and understand?
I'm all for rappers, actors, dancers, singer, bands that do it for Gods glory alone.
If it can bring people out of the world's darkness and into the Lords light then why not?
Presley: I think you already said you like Skillet and Red (and maybe Disciple, too?)

Personally, anyway, some of Disciple is really hard-hitting and clear in its Biblical lyrics.

Blessings.

Presley: The music is more subjective and a matter of taste.

I think the lyrics count for a lot, whether the words are God honoring and Biblically based or not.

Blessings.

right on! (that's American vernacular for "amen")

The music is more subjective and a matter of taste.
= carnal judgement

whether the words are God honoring and Biblically based or not.
= spiritual judgement

Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

I know that. I used "rap and rock" because that's what this topic is about.
As far as lyrics go.. yes they do count a lot that's why I said it should be used to teach the youth about God.
Lyrics can put thoughts in a person's head. No I'm not saying if a song talks about killing someone because they wronged you then the song is going to make you do that. But it can make you hate a person because they wronged you. But on the other hand if you listen to songs that teach about forgiving people who have wronged you then most likely you'll want to forgive because that's the kinda mind set the lyrics gave you.
But then again that's just my own opinion.

Presley: Yes, I was agreeing with you.

Just goes to show how important the lyrics are, really. the style of music is more subjective.

Blessings.

I'm sorry I knew you were agreeing with me.
I just wanted to be more clear with what I meant.
Sometimes what I say confuses people.

Also, the style of music is so often simply a matter of taste and custom; for example, classical musicians at concerts often wear tuxedos or off the shoulder gowns, while rock musicians might wear slashed blue jeans or leather pants and spiky hair and piercings/tattoos. Blessings.

I like rap music. Too bad the popular rap songs are just too dirty, you won't hear a word if you listen to the 'clean' version.

In relation to this, though, I really don't think it's changing gospel to fit the world... Rap and rock are art forms. They're not evil. When you sing too fast that you sound like you're talking, it's called rap, I think. And I don't think that's bad. At all. Lol. I love LeCrae!

Do you like Christian hard rock as well? some bands, such as Disciple, have clear, Biblical lyrics.

Blessings.

I alway had problems with christian rock, heavy metal, screamo, etc, who say they're saved, but present themselves like zombies or death warmed over.

I mean, when some of these groups go & blend in with Hellfest & Ozzfest, you can't cover it up......just sayin'......

I get what your saying, I don't understand why some of these bands present themselves the way they do but we don't know what happens behind the scenes at these festivals (for eg.) so yeah, I just leave it that hoping that they would have a good testimony to other bands as to why they aren't indulging in alcohol, drugs, cursing and having sex with loose women.
