I get what your saying, I don't understand why some of these bands present themselves the way they do but we don't know what happens behind the scenes at these festivals (for eg.) so yeah, I just leave it that hoping that they would have a good testimony to other bands as to why they aren't indulging in alcohol, drugs, cursing and having sex with loose women.

i don't doubt that there are charlatans who are called "Christian bands" but i think the attitude & justification of those bands that tour with secular bands or play for secular crowds has something to do with this:

And as he reclined at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners were reclining with Jesus and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.
(Mark 2:13-17)

being "called out of the world" is not the same thing as being called to complete isolation. like you say, we don't know exactly what goes on behind the scenes, but we can hope that the Lord uses them as a testimony to the world, and i think for a lot of Christian musicians this sort of evangelism is the ministry that they feel called to. we don't send missionaries to the church across the street; we send them to people that haven't heard or accepted the gospel.

... indulging in alcohol, drugs, cursing and having sex with loose women.
For example, if we look at the Biblical lyrics of a track such as 'Battle Lines' by Disciple, it is very, very hard to conclude that this hard rock band is remotely promoting any of these activities mentioned here.

When Jesus was at Matthew's house, Jesus was the guest of honor of a converted publican. In concert terms, He was the main event, & everyone knew it. The publicans & sinners knew to behave according to Matthew's rules & "behave". It doesn't mean they acted like christians, but they understood they were to bring their morals with them.

These, on the other hand, are only an opening act for an evil main event, & they sign a contract to play by their rules. They aren't required to cuss & all, but are limited in what they can do (no witnessing or alter calls). Just like those that came to Matthew's house, they know the house rules before they show up

I have enough common sense to know that an opening act is their way to get their foot in the door for something bigger. When POD goes to Ozzfest, they're breaking nearly every rule in the book for the opportunity of a lifetime, to be "discovered" in that group & become a regular with them. Big bucks. New contract. New rules.

I'm sorry I knew you were agreeing with me.
I just wanted to be more clear with what I meant.
Sometimes what I say confuses people.
Presley: Did you check out Disciple and 'Battle Lines', btw? you might like it a lot and it's very Biblical.

There's even a bit of screamo with it. (Do you like a bit of screamo sometimes?)

Blessings.

Rubbish. P.O.D were big before they went to OzzFest. Also, they actually do use the opportunity to shine God's light amongst the lost and a Bible-believing pastor accompanies them on tour. But I don't expect you to understand. You seem to believe Christians should only hang out with Christians.

There are Christians who have beliefs that aligns more with Gnosticism (everything physical is evil), there are people who are mentally ill, there are people who are angry at the church and there are people who just love to watch Christians squirm by making up stuff/taking things out of context. If I went to YouTube for the Truth, I'd be screwed!

Ok, here is my take on it and I hope that I can explain it in a way that is understandable. I think that if a christian group wants to play in a heavy metal style, that is fine...but what I can't STAND is when they call out to the audience and say 'let's mosh for the Lord' that's really lame and inappropriate and furthermore, I REALLY think God could care less and is probably rolling His eyes. Nothing is wrong with moshing but don't bring God into it LOL

So, which am I, & which video on Youtube of them in concert is a lie....... If you're gonna say it, say it, don't beat around the bush with scenarios that insinuate I'm bad & literally say nothing. You've said nothing biblical, nothing direct. To me that means you've said nothing at all. I'm calling you out on this...... make your case..... Since you've said some big things here towards me, I'm gonna say one big thing...... put up or shut up. You're gonna reap what you sow.

I would normally support tintin but trying to argue modern music with someone who is half a century just doesnt make alot of sense to me. It would be like me trying to argue elvis with them. So Stepehn63...you can just have your little theories and opinions. THats cool. Just realize most people who actually listen to the music... dont care about your theories and opinions.

Yeah I listened to a few songs and I loved them :)
As far as screamo goes.. I grew up on it :) my dad listens to a lot of heavy metal/screamo bands. So I kinda picked up on my dad's taste in music.

Presley: I was impressed by the clear, Biblical lyrics of Disciple's Battle Lines, anyway.

Blessings.

It's not my "opinion" that POD performed on The Blair Witch Project, The Book of Shadows is it? It's not my "opinion" that Marilyn Manson, self-proclaimed Satanic Priest not only produced the project, but personally chose P.O.D. & Project 86 to perform on it!

Amos 3:3 (KJV) [SUP]3 [/SUP]Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

This isn't a conspiracy witch-hunt, these are the facts!

Is it my opinion that in many of their songs they refer to their god as "Jah", the god of Rastafarianism, a religion that doesn't believe in Christ as the Messiah?

You are right about one thing though..... those who listen to groups like this don't care about what I have to say.

I don't watch those kind of movies but you might want to get your facts straight. Bill Carraro, not Marilyn Manson, produced that project. P.O.D. were invited to put one of their songs on the album, but again, I believe it's better to have a Christian presence there, than not there. Marilyn Manson is a messed up man but he's more of a shock-jock than anything else (although he has dabbled in the occult). Finally, yes, they do refer to God as Jah. They are from a culture where Rastafarianism is prevalent but they're not Rastafarians, they're South Cali Christians. For them Jah is short for Yahweh. I'm not saying they're perfect but they are Bible-believing Christians.

What do U think of a christian band that has been interviewed dozens of times & when asked won't say anything bad about Marilyn Manson, Kid Rock, Chevelle & the like. The only subject they will negatively hammer on is christianity.

And what about profanity? Here's one of their songs called "i AM"

I am the murdered, the pervert, sick to the core
I am the unclean, dope fiend, I am the w**re
I am the beat down, mistreated, sexually abused
I have violated, fornicated and sexually used
I am the con artist, cold-hearted, smooth preacher
Cash stealer, emotion bleeder, the soul lecher
I feed off the poor but I'm a slave to the rich
I'm in depression so, this reflection is making me sick
Are you the one that's come to set me free ?
'Cause if you knew who I am, would you really want to die for me ?
They say you are the cursed man, the one who hangs from this tree
I know this is the one and only son of god but tell who the f**k is he!
So tell me!
I am fake, a fraud, a phony, I'm a known liar
Anorexic, rejected object of your desire
Suicidal thoughts, keep one in the chamber
I'm a turned out street walking heroin banger
I am a secret cutter, porn lover, the town, drunkard
Next door, neighborhood slut, I am somebody's mother
Outcasted arrogant bas****d son
I am the talk of the town but this story's just begun
I am what you reaped, I am what you sewed
I am that guy talking to himself, I am alone
I'm the forgotten child ravaged and raped through sex traffic
And since I'm a little strange, my daddy called me a fag**t
I am insecure, immature, even I discuss me
In denial, pill pop'n, prescription junkie
I see demons, eyes bleeding, my soul impure
Already know that I'm the disease, but tell me what's the cure?
This is me, we are him and I am you
Old things have passed away and all things become new!
Borrowed lyrics from SongMeanings.com

Why won't they let the Holy Spirit do the convicting work instead of using words with shock value? It's His job, not theirs!

They NEVER mention Christ.
They NEVER mention the Gospel.
If Jesus is central in their lives, He ought to be central in their songs. Jesus doesn't get glory in this song. That last line could be talking about anybody.

How about this one.?????? What are they even talking about? Sounds like mysticism to me. If somewhere in here Christ Crucified is being proclaimed where is it? (And so many of their lyrics are like this)

"Shine With Me"

So why don't you come with me
And take a trip to the other side?
Where you and I, we can sing, we can fly
We can dance as the stars go by
And the heavens will open up
With a vision inside 'jah love
The earth, and the moon, and the sun will align
With a voice from the sky above
One love

So come on and shine with me
Like the beautiful star you are.
So come on and shine with me
Shine with me.

Float through the sky,
And look through my eyes
And then you will see what happens.
Nowhere to hide, look deep down inside
In life you must take your chances
Come with me and you will see
My love is like la la la la la...
So come with me and you will see
One love...

So come on and shine with me
Like the beautiful star you are
And leave it behind with me
Cause forever is not that far
So come on and shine with me
Like the beautiful star you are
And leave it behind with me
And shine with me

Shine on, shine on, shine on! one love!

[chorus]

Shine with me
Shine with me

Stephen,

i wonder where you're trying to go with this?
maybe you should email P.O.D. if you have questions specifically for them; i'm sure you can contact them via facebook or their band's website. or, if you find them offensive, maybe you shouldn't obsess yourself with them? i don't recall anyone on this forum actually mentioning P.O.D. before you.

if you are trying to make the logical connections:
P.O.D. bad, P.O.D. plays electric guitars and sometimes sings in a rap-like style, therefore all rap and rock is inherently satanic

then i think there are some obvious logical flaws in what you are trying to say.

if that's not what you're trying to say, could you leave off bashing P.O.D. for a post or two, and clearly explain what your point is?

thanks.

does it occur to you that this song is exactly about the relationship you have with P.O.D. ?
they've publicly declared themselves to believe on Jesus.

are you willing to die for them, or do you say "who the f**k are P.O.D. ?"
even knowing them? the songwriter has certainly debased himself more than you've defamed him.

Christ died for us "while we were yet sinners" -- i think a plain reading of that song is asking whether you are willing to do the same? what if it turns out there is more wickedness in his heart even than you think? what if he confesses his sin?

or do we fall short?

"they say you are the cursed man, the one who hangs from a tree"
they say we are Christians, that we are ambassadors for Jesus on earth

what do we think about "the least of these" ?
