Not one of those bands fit this category. DC Talk was cheesy youth group pseudo-rap turned youth group pseudo-alternative. Pretty much everything those guys did together or solo sounded like it was made for youth group. Except some if their Goatee Records artists were good, such as Grits.
Delirious was just ccm/radio rock. Same with Switchfoot.

This album brings back memories listening to it in 1993.

I'd always said I would never be one of those older guys that complains about modern music, but I am haha. But then again the ease of forming bands, creating music, videos, gaining followers, etc... has drastically changed more than any other time in the history of rock. It is also the longest "dry spell" in the evolution of metal, ever. Metalcore got big when I was a teen and it grew more commercial and popular. 20+ years later and it's still the top metal variation. But has grown very little. In fact it's coming full circle. It started out heavy, got commercial and singy and melodic. Noe the trend seems to be more old school. Speaks volume about the industry, style, and makers of metalcore that they have changed so little over such a long time. Utter stagnation of a genre. There are some I like, quite well. But metal was more varied and did more growth in the past. So, for me, it's hard not to look at old bands. Or to expand into styles I never would have listened to as a teen. So there is that positive from it all.

And they're still putting music out. And I believe Michael recently put out a new solo album.

The Letter Black. Huge departure from their old sound. Last time i gave them a listen, and found it dull, was their first release. This, though, is way heavier and industrial flavored. I'm digging this. Reminds me of 90s industrial.

Rose released a new album this year titled Songs for the Ritually Abused. Randy Rose's other band "Mad at the World" currently has a Kickstarter going to garner support for a new album. Mad at the World - www.madattheworld.net

Get over the kickstarter. Not allowed to advertise them. Even if you make different accounts to do it.

I used to listen to Mortal, Bride, Tourniquet, Deliverance, and Guardian in college. Nowadays I don't like the newer metal. It either sounds too rough with the angry growling or too hollow. With the exception of Southbound Fearing. They're pretty great, but probably not metal enough.
