I don't believe there is any such thing as Christian Metal. If it's metal, rock n roll, jazz, etc.... it's not Christian. My opinion.
Yes, thank you. Your opinion has been heard and noted and we'll discuss it at our next meeting, in the meantime please enjoy this timeless classic from 1992...

Love and death!! Look em up. They need more fans :p
They've been brought up more than once here. As I've said before, they're sound is too commercial, generic rock for me. I absolutely loved Head's solo album, there was a lot more raw emotion and you could really get his story from what he sang.

This is a thread to discuss the bands and music among others who enjoy it. If you want to start an argument, start your own thread and do not invade or try to hijack this one.

Before I forget Ugly, just a couple upcoming albums you missed, Armath Sargon has a new one he's working on, hopefully it's as good as under the sun and moon. A Hill to Die Upon is working on a new one and selling preorder bundles to fund it.

The new overcome sounds good, new vocalist. Those who fear are good. Torn Skin is a great industrial group. And try Fit for a king...

I could just never get myself to get into Overcome. I had an album Facedown produced after they broke up that had like 17 songs on it, and I just never got into it :/

Extol and Antestor were the big comebacks for me, and both put out great albums.

I remember a while back AHTDU releasing a song, but i can't remember if they announced an album too, or not. Either way, will be good to check it out. And will likely check out AS also. Though i'm out of my BM kick, for the most part. But sometimes you find something that sticks regardless.

Yeah, i think i have all their releases. Was into them before their first CD came out, when i heard them on Helpless Among Friends. I believe i've posted vids of them in this thread, actually.
I remember Torn Skin, but they were so old i never got to hear them. Back then there was no Youtube, MySpace, Facebook, etc..

You ever get to see some local band only to find out they actually got a record deal and started selling albums? I saw this band once called the Uriah Omen. Super cool guys. Played basketball and hung out with a couple of the members. They were just some local band from NC. Several years down the road I found out they changed their name to He Is Legend...great band, though their religious stance was always on the shaky side, more so with the more albums they released...

Strongarm. They were just a bit north of us in FL. Saw them before and after the first album. Loved that first CD. Still a favorite. Dudes were Beasts live too.

The only album of Strongarms I had was Advent of a Miracle. A lot of fans didn't like the vocalist on that album, but I thought he was awesome, he had a very distinctive sound to his voice, and that wasn't extremely common in those days. I also loved the bonus track on that album. That album along with anything Point of Recognition did are my favorite things in hardcore to this day.

Well, that vocalist was the drummer on their first album. Which he killed on drums so was a bummer that he moved to vocals, because the original vocalist blew that dude out of the water. The original vocalist, not in sound, but in power, was somewhat unparalleled by other Christians screamers of the day. I put him and Phil Anselmo in the same category of power. I had seen them a number of times with him, and a few times after he left. He went to seminary, if i remember correctly. A YEAR after he quit the band, the band played a show, and had him come on stage and do a guest vocal on one of their songs. He said 'i haven't screamed at all in a year, so if i suck, too bad'. Even with a year of no screaming, he still blew the new guy out of the water. He was just really passionate. Less rock star, more sincere. So you should definitely check them out. Aw shoot... here you go...

I think i have that album... hmm... Never listen to it much. Its more 'core', but i'd never read the lyrics. Good lyrics. I had always gotten the feeling these guys were more on the fence lyrically. Perhaps i've confused them with someone else. Good lyrics can (sometimes) make a band i may not notice suddenly better. Like Sleeping Giant. Wasn't into them much, til i saw the lyrics. Have liked them ever since, haha. Maybe have to give this one a spin again. Sounded a little cookie cutter, but who knows.

Betraying the Martyrs was a disappointment. Their first release was pretty sweet, straight-forward lyrics. But they got that new singer, and next thing you know, f-bombs all over the place. And more generic, typical lyrics with no real direction. Lame!

They wanted to make music, but didn't have anything to say? Although in music you do get songs that make no sense and still sound good, that formula dosen't really work in metal.

Who do you say I am?
I am the alpha omega
Beginning and end
If only you understood you'd know
That the heart is a treasure from heaven
Death, ascension, resurrection
Now look what I've become
Proclaiming his name and looking down the barrel of a gun
I'm in this for life

The time has come to change the world
All this destruction keeps pushing us back
Running, further, into the ground
The Devil isn't the king of hell
He's just the chief prisoner that fell
With, the world wrapped around his finger

Are we, trapped in division and unbelief
Forever, separated by our hatred

Turn, run as fast as you can
And leave it all behind
There's nothing for you here
The Devil isn't the king of hell
He's just the chief prisoner that fell
With, the world wrapped around his finger

Are we trapped in division and unbelief
Forever, separated by our hatred [2x]

Death, ascension, resurrection [8x]

Demon possessed, praise the dead
Walking beside him like darkness is your closet friend

Are we, trapped in division and unbelief
Forever, separated by our hatred
Follow, him to the kingdom of heaven
Where pain and suffering cease to exist

Death, ascension, resurrection

I really like impending doom, but they weird me out sometimes hahaha. I know they're most definitely christian, but their imagery still weirds me out a little. Everything about their album covers and song titles screams another anti-christian band, and lyrically they're most definitely not. It's just weird to me.

That's true. Baptized in Filth? Eww. Yeah, that dosen't sound so very "pure" but they are trying. The song is great in an instrumental perspective and they straight up say " The Devil isn't king of hell" so it teaches you something. The message is definatley FOR God. The title is probably just to show that they are metal :p
