RED, Sleeping Giant, Extol, Demon Hunter, As I Lay Dying! Man there's a lot of great christian metal out there just takes a massive amount of research for being new to it like looking up the bands and the lyrics etc. I have been listening to christian metal for about 2 yrs and still havent found all that i want to. I went from listening to Slipknot, Korn, Manson and others and sometimes seems like the christian bands arent as good. But its taught me to open my horizons!
Hey Cora! Here's a pretty good link that will list tons of Christian Metal that's past & present. Then you can check many of them out on stuff like YouTube. Happy hunting!

Get busy with some Impending Doom, Living Sacrifice, Becoming The Archetype, Thy will be done (their earlier stuff had a Pantera-ish sound ooo yeh!) Pantokrator, Theocracy, Virginia Creeper (kinda Marilyn Manson-y)

I think they're the only ones I really like and recommend at the moment and I agree with you, it's hard to find decent Christian metal with good lyrics. A lot of it is that scream stuff unfortunately :/

Sounds like you're looking for some core for the melodic breakdowns.

Try some Hope for The Dying, For Today, Haste the Day (Pressure the Hinges and Dreamer albums), and these last two don't really fit into the genre as well, but Gideon and Saving Grace (all screaming in those, but sweet mercy they play some tight music).

Seriously though... this is progressive Christian metalcore. These guys are awesome.

Stay away from Mythos. It's not a bad album, but it's so painfully short...

Otherwise, I love this outfit. They are some good death metal.

Hi all
I am in the uk and have recently discovered Christian rock.net where I can get my fix of decent hard metal.
I would have to say that RED are awesome I love the mix of instrumental and hard rock. Their songs are passionate and moving and they could be sung as a prayer. One of my fav non Christian bands is nickelback and so far I haven't really found a Christian band that is a par with them but I will keep searching. Love switchfoot and fireflight. Basically anything with a good rift is ok with me. You probably get more chance to see your fav bands in concert but we don't get that luxury unfortunately.
will keep on listening to discover new ones
God Bless

Ash Durrance, the founder of the Christian Industrial band Opus Majestic passed from this life into greater things two weeks ago.

the Lord count him worthy of rest; his labors are ceased

Gefallen

Wir sind gefallen ...
aus den höchsten Höhen
Oh Vater,
rette unsere Seelen

Finsternis in uns allen ...
stärker als die Bergspitzen,
älter als die Erde

Die Rettung ruht nun
auf den Schwingen des Schicksals
Werden wir die Türe finden ...
die uns wieder
zu unserer verlorenen Unschuld führt?

(rough English translation)

Fallen

We are fallen ...
from the highest heights
Oh Father,
save our souls

darkness in all of us ...
more than the mountain peaks,
older than the Earth

The Rescue now rests
on the wings of destiny
Will we find the door ...
that leads us again
to our lost innocence?

Jesus is that door,
may we all pass through!

5 days..... this thread needs bumping.

Also, I'd usually go for something harder, but RIP Ash. This is what came to mind first.

And if you see me losing ground
Don't be afraid to lie
I know the pain inside my heart can't break the fear inside of yours
And if you see me losing faith
In what it means to die
Don't let me leave before I know what lies behind the stained glass doors

Save sorrow for the souls in doubt
Bleed every care out

[Chorus:]
Will you carry me down the aisle that final day
With your tears and cold hands shaking from the weight
When you lower me down beneath that sky of gray
Let the rain fall down and wash away your pain

For every word we never spoke
We have a tear to cry
For every silence like a wall between a better you and I
So if you see me losing sight
Of all the death in life
You'll find the peace in every time I failed to see the death in mine

Let all the fear inside you drown
Tear out the blade and lay it down
Save sorrow for the souls in doubt
Bleed every care out

[Chorus]

Oh, the blood is rushing out
Oh, I'm better off without
Oh, the walls are closing in
Oh, sing for me again

[Chorus]
(Rain down, oh rain down, no care for the flood)

Indeed, we should save the sorrow for the souls in doubt. Those who have fallen asleep in Christ are blessed to know his everlasting Love. The tears of sorrow at a funeral are nothing to the tears of joy that are cried when one finally sees God.

Dark Lay Still - White Blades Through Black Hearts

there are screams in the wind tonight
demons to your left and angels to your right
forget all that you were taught to feel
erase in this moment what you thought was real
darkness creeps in and pierces the night
but angels stand behind you, robed in white
these legions of angels draw their swords
and raise a cry to the approaching hordes
one after another, the sons of pride
fall before angelic steel
white blades pierce black hearts
still they blaspheme the Lord's name
even in the midst of defeat their hearts are hardened
and their dead keep to themselves
leave not one standing
let not one be left alive to bury the dead
the battle belongs to the Lord
in Him is our victory
leave not one standing
let not one be left alive to bury the dead
the battle belongs to the Lord
in Him is our victory

♥ this -- feel free to sing it for my body's funeral :)
I've considered putting it down for my funeral too lol.

Amazing grace followed by Demon Hunter, or Demon Hunter followed by Amazing Grace, I haven't decided. I've got time though :).
