Guys!This is the bit that I don't really understand. Is there any bible verse that says this line? I know it's from "Hosanna" of Hillsong but what does it mean? Is there any bible verse or biblical support to this line?

Cheers :D

Isn't it "break my heart FROM what breaks Yours"?

I"ve always heard "break my heart FOR what breaks yours", but actually both could work. We want our hearts to break and take action for the things that break God's heart, and we also want our own hearts to break away from the sin that breaks His heart.

As far as Biblical basis, I'd say any sort of verse pertaining that we are to be like Jesus, or to seek after God. The more we strive to be like Him, the more the material things of the world will fade and the more our hearts will be tender towards those who are hurting or are sinning.

I have been hearing the lyrics wrong. It makes more sense to me to ask God to break my heart from what breaks His as opposed to asking him to break my heart for what breaks His, but that's me. I have a lot more reasoning that goes into this but I'll keep it to myself.

It does make sense, and I want to hear your reasoning, too. :)

"Break my heart for what breaks yours
Everything I am for your kingdom's cause", I think the point is in the second line.

I don't think God is in the business of breaking hearts, but restoring them. Asking God to break my heart for breaking His just seems to me like I'm asking to be punished and God does chastise his children, but what child asks to be chastised of his father? While I do see that people could see this as asking God to convict them of what breaks his heart, a broken heart as I know it is not the same feeling as conviction in my spirit. In addition, I do not know of any scriptures that say that God's heart can be broken (who has known the mind of God?) and I do not want to liken God's heart the the heart of man because God is so much higher than man.

He is in the business to make us more like him though. Psalm 139 and Psalm 51 talk about broken and contrite hearts. God does let things happen to us to make us more like him. Job is a clear example. He saw more of God than He ever would of with a comfy life. It is all perspective. Never trust a preacher who has not been broken, You want someone who has been in the deepest or atleast understands what it is like.

The song “Hosanna” has been one of my favorites song and I love the bridge in particular;

Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like You have loved me
Break my heart for what breaks Yours
Everything I am for Your Kingdom's cause
As I walk from earth into eternity

Whenever I sang the line “Break my heart for what breaks Yours”, my mind naturally turned to all the people who do not yet know Jesus, and whom Jesus is just longing to welcome into His kingdom. I’m sure His heart is breaking for all those who can’t, or won’t, for whatever reason, accept the gift of salvation that He is freely holding out to all and that God’s heart can break over those who are already His children as well.

Why and when would God’s heart break for those who are already His? I think there are a number of reasons, but I believe that one of them is when His children absorb and participate so much in the things of the world as to be virtually indistinguishable from the rest of the world. , As i remember Jesus teaches His disciples on the Mount ;
In Matthew 5:13-16
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
