I want to know what your favorite amp is. If you could have any set up what would it be? Jackson guitars and Marshall dsl 100 for me. I've tried a lot of amps. Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier, early 80's Laney all tube. Carvin at one point. I would like to try out a Bogner Uberschall at some point. I found that the Marshall DSL 100 was a great value and I like it better than more expensive amp heads out there.

I use a Fender Blues Jr. with aftermarket tubes and speaker.

I met a guitarist who had a Fender Twin Reverb handwired custom head, it was unbelievably sweet/creamy tonally.

I like the Marshall Plexi for more of a raw tone.

This is the sound I'm looking for and while the Blues Jr. is good, it falls short...

I like it. I like to play everything from old school punk to grindcore and I find the marshall head gives me everything I need. Some of these knew heads like Krank have one tone. That
dsl 100 has the classic crunch and the lead channel. If you use the classic crunch and roll back the volume knob on your guitar you can get a really classic sound. I like the deep switch for playing something heavy. If you're recording at a lower level it sounds awesome. When I bought mine it was almost $1300 now they go for like $889. Right now I record through a multi track program and just use a Korg Pandoras box. I just rarely get to turn it up loud. My family just isn't into what I am. My kids say that my music scares them.

Blues Jr.

I was listening to the Marshall DSL 100, it looks like a very nice low cost Plexi replacement.

Here's what I love about the Blues Jr.

Fender Musical Instruments Corp. - YouTube

These are the Pro Junior but the Blues Jr. is basically a Pro Junior on steroids. :)

FENDER® PRO JUNIOR™ III, 212 CAB, & STRAT®: "Rockin' Blues" - YouTube

FENDER® PRO JUNIOR™ III & STRAT®: "Spacious Stereo Shuffle" - YouTube

I use an Ibanez S5470 as my main guitar and a Les Paul Recording as my secondary...someday I'll spring for a Strat. :)

Additionally...here's my effects chain for various other flavors...

Korg Volume Pedal > Ibanez WH-10 Wah Pedal > Korg Black Tuner > EH Soul Preacher Compressor > Radial Tonebone Classic Overdrive > Boss PH-1R Phaser > VestaFire Stereo Chorus > Boss DD-20 Giga Delay > iSP Decimator NR > Boss RC-2 Loop Station

And of course with all these goodies...the Twin Reverb still puts my rig to shame tone wise... :(

There's just nothing like that 'bluesy' clean, and the raw creamy distortion of the high end Fenders.
