I recently noticed that most of the music I listen to has a male as a lead vocal. I do have some female vocalist based music, but the vast majority is male. I think I prefer men vocalists. I just tend to like how they sound, though it could be because of the genres of music I usually listen to.

What about you? Do you have more male vocal based music or female? Does it just happen to be that way or do you prefer one or the other?

Definately prefer male vocals. At least in actual singing. Most womens voices are higher and can get annoying. There are exceptions, of course. And oddly i still listen to 80s metal and their high pitch vocals, haha. But i guess they don't maintain that high sound, like a womans voice would. But if you listen to Bridget sing old bluesy/jazzy type stuff, and she sings a bit lower, that sounds awesome. I could listen to an album of her singing those.

Depends, I guess over all most of the bands I love are with male singers. That is only because not many girls do punk rock and metal and all. But there are also some SUPER awesome bands with female artists. Like Flyleaf, Evanescence and all. But male singers have more variety to their voices, sometimes it is hard to find a female singer with a unique voice.

I was going through my music, I definitely have way more male singers than female. I never relized I had a preference.. I guess it makes sense that I will sometimes skip a song because it has a female singer. Lol.

I have no idea if I listen to more male than female but it's not because of the voice alone that I listen. I just like good songs.

i generally can not stand to listen to a female "sing" most of them just screech as shrill as they can..

its so bad that if I do happen to watch a sport event on tv. ill mute the national anthem cause they will end up having a female artist. butcher it up with the long drawn out screeching

Most of the bands I listen to are carried by male vocalists, mostly because they have the majority, however I actually prefer female vocalists. There seems to be an almost enchanting quality to their vocals in association with the music.

Why do we listen to christian music? Mostly because we can trust the lyrics of it, we don't need songs that glorify sin. But christian music is mediocre at best, that's why I usually just listen to 'instrumental' (secular) music.

I listen to an even mix, though the artists and bands I've been getting into recently usually have mostly female vocals. I've never really preferred one to the other, but most of the female artists i listen to tend to be super high sopranos and I can't hit that high without my voice hurting :<

I prefer female singers. I listen to males but females just draw my attention to their voice whereas if a male is singing I may listen to the instruments more. My favorite is kind of a mixture as skillet does in a few songs. I know the music I write I would love to have a female vocalist, but I don't have any female friends who can sing! So I'm stuck with my lousy singing voice for now lol.

Ugh, Crossnote, what is wrong with opera?! oy...

As a voice teacher myself, I have noticed that men, in general, like to listen to female voices, and women, in general, like to listen to male voices. Obviously not true for everyone, but in generalities it is so.

As a female, I prefer male voices. But I like the operatic tenor best! :)

I definitely prefer male vocals as opposed to female. Female vocalists most of the time can be loud, shrill, and annoying. I listen to a lot of indie, classic rock, and techno (but I'll listen to basically anything) and the artists or groups that I prefer almost always have a male lead.

most of the music i have has male vocals, but i think it may be related to the genres i mostly have - i don't have a great deal of "worship music" which i think tends to have more female vocalists. i listen to a lot of unblack metal, almost zero female leads in that genre, for example.
i do listen to a lot of bands with female vocalists though -
my favourite couple of female lead voices represent pretty different genres:
Kye Kye (pop/indie)
Voice of Glass (rock/metalcore)
